I fished the Klamath River Saturday evening and Sunday for nothing.  I got there around 4pm and went straight to the launch.  Meet some fish and game creel survey guys and they said no one had been catching all week cause the sand bar closed and no new fish were moving in.  I talked to some guides and they said some fish were being caught up near blue creek, but there were some reports of steelhead in the Glen area.  Tried all the tricks in the book, but nothing. Didn't even see a fish.  It is getting really cold up there now, so if you are going soon, be prepared.  As I was packing up a group of native american punks came by looking for trouble.  Big dude hangin out the passenger door was throwing me a dirty look.  I just nodded and lifted my beer and I heard they guy in the back say "should we F' him up"  The big guy up front looked at me and said Nah.  Needless to say I packed up and got the hell out of there.  I don't recommend going out there by yourself.

Valuable report right here.  Thanks for posting it, Jim.

Just an FYI:  if that white spot downstream in the second photo is your rig it's a good idea to park a little downstream of there.  We were told last year by the "owner" of that farthest-upstream end of the riverbar (before the bedrock starts on the north bank) that he would appreciate us not parking there at his spot.

Thanks for the report Jim. I heard that the mouth closed due to the high swells. Fresh fish equals biting fish, so I'm not surprised by the slow report.
A guy has to be careful around the natives! Some are really cool. Some are itching to cause problems for you. Was their rig a red 4x4 Ford pickup? I give that rig a wide berth. I left a hot bite there when it was late in the day and I was the only guy on the river, and that 4x4 was tearing up and down the river bar. The smell of trouble was just too strong and I got the heck out of there while I still could.
Sorry about the skunk but glad you had no problems other than that.
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

Even where we parked on our trip (which was well downstream from where you are parked), I was told just before I left that I was on private land and they would prefer that I parked farther down the riffle.  The guy was very friendly and polite and no problem.  Seems they want the public to park more toward the middle of the riffle... which is kind of a pain the the behind but whatever....

They need a sign.

Just so you all know. Not all the Yurok's are bad news. There are plenty of friendly people up there. In all places there are some shady characters. I wouldnt go into Hunters Point at midnight on Saturday night either. Or into a dangerous barrio alone. But this guy that you ran into Jim is into intimidation tactics. There is a big gap between harrassment and a felony crime. The guy that runs the first net is cool.
