Well I decided to head inland and walk the John Muir Trail - starting on Sept 1 and finishing on the 20th. I am unsure how many people know but you walk by some the the best trout fishing in all of California. The entire trip was amazing. We had days where we would walk by 10 lakes not knowing which ones to fish and which ones to swim in...everyday ended with a lake to fish in and one to wake up to...I have attached a couple photos. We never caught any really big fish. Just beautiful ones!

That trip is so epic.  I made it in 2000, and it is definitely one of the highlights of my trekking life.  Wake up, fish, eat, walk, eat, walk, eat, fish, sleep.  Rinse and repeat.

Great photos, makes me want to be there.  Just. Epic.

That is fantastic. The Sierras when you spend some time off the beaten path restores the soul to childlike bliss. I am so envious. Through your photos I am replenished. Thanks so much. Craig.

Great report on your trip on the  JMT. Spent some time on those trails as I lived and worked in Yosemite NP for ten years. Have not been in the Sierra highcountry since. Your report makes me hunger for the highcountry again. Take care and thanks for the report,

Awesome, love the JMT!

Seems like every body of water holds fearless trout ready slam whatever fly is nearby.

I remember once a few years ago using a bubble and fly and having up to 5 separate little Brookies hook up for a few seconds and shake the barbless off one after another! :smt001

BTW is that a Golden?

Great pics - love that beautiful peak behind the lake in pic #2.   :smt007

So, would a little yak on Roleez make it along that trail?   :smt003
