Decided to head to Caples and try my luck for a 6lb+ trout. The closest I got to 6lbs. would be 6 individual fish, but I did see someone by the dam catch a 6lb+ from the shore. I caught and released over 40 fish all between 10"-12" and I even had my first double hookup :smt044 . I circled the whole lake, and worked the center and caught fish everywhere. Lure of choice was a humdinger tipped with a worm, but I would say anything would work. I left the house at 4:00am from Sac. and got home at 8:00pm, and I should of never told the wife I would be home around 2:00pm...she was worried  :smt013 , but I explained to her that I was soooo busy catching fish  :smt003 that I lost track of time. I've used this excuse so many times that I think I'll be getting a new phone tomorrow from the sprint store. My wife's phone worked there last time....but my phone is an old back-up since I lost my last one in Vegas.

Great pictures. Gotta make it up there someday. Is that also a trout in the fifth picture?

Nice, Looks like some Rainbows and Brown?

I like that lake but last time I was there was before the stocking for the season and it took 4 hours to get one fish. Are you trailing the worms behind a flasher or a dodger? Some one else on this board recommended that to me and it really seemed to make a difference.

Howard, pretty sure that is a brookie.

My question about the pic is what kind of a set-up is that and how did you work it?  Did you troll it or jig/drift it?  Is it a banjo minnow?

Good call on the brookie Mike. That little jig looks pretty cool. I have never fished those for trout. Are you casting and retrievingor jigging? Thanks, Craig. The lake looks great. Was the water temp up there?

The water temp. was between 58-60

Here is a couple pictures of my set-up. The dodger was on braided line, and the flasher was on leaded line.

I also used a larger UV Crippler, pro cure trophy trout super gel.......of course I can't give away all my secrets :smt044 hell.....a hook and bead would of caught fish!!!!

I mean, I didn't scrutinize the "OK to plant" list of reservoirs.  But this one being at elevation, you figure DFG would take a pass on it AND that the privates would not get a planting permit.  That's why i'm surprised.

They are stuffing it full of trophy bows too, a Nebraska strain apparently. Guess people were unappy about the drain-down last year. so they are following the DFG stocking sequence that was used in Lake Davis, part of the plan is to put "back" trophy trout.
