Taking a bunch of newbies and my kids to the harbor to learn to fish for bait.  They have never been in salt, and after fishing the tourney, it looks to be about the best place to take newbies.  I also enjoyed meeting the folks at the kayaki shop, and a few of them will be needing to rent yaks, so I have no prob shelling business to them.  Anyone is welcome to come and enjoy and/or help with some newbies and kids fishing for some dines.

Let me work on the wife. Could be a blast with the 15 mo old. I am sure she would love it....The wife may be another question. 2nd half of the day could be collecting a pumpkin!

Fishing for sardines with sabikis at HMB right now is an GREAT way to introduce newbies and kids to kayak fishing.  For kids, it might be a good ideas to reduce the number of hooks.

It looks like my brother and I will be a week early on this one. We are heading out this Friday to try and make bait in the harbor and head out to try for halibut/rockfish. I would love to bring my kids one of these days to trip around in the harbor, but next weekend we will be attending our annual family reunion on the delta. Have fun and let us know how it goes.

We are reducing hooks to 2.  That way, a sabiki will outfit 3 rods! :smt044  I know I will be untangling reels and rods a lot, but it will be fun.  Darius, sounds great.

I didn't think I would ever say this but I haven't barely fished this year and I think I am now jealous of you folks who get to fish for bait!

Its really simple, put your kayak on the top of your car, then fishing poles inside then leave :smt044 :smt044 :smt044

Drinking Buddy; I posses some voyeuristic sadistic tendency. I feel there's a carnage story to be told. Please be masochist enough to post the mayham for a sicko.

I gave the short humble version :smt003  in the fishing reports/archive section under the heading of Bolinas Lagoon. When I don't go fishing for any period of time ( four months or better) my first trip back out is always a laugh or two. I will usually bring several rods because I have needed them! I have in my past broken rods, reels, snapped off lines, dumped tackle boxes over, tripped and face planted while scurrying over to a rod and the list goes on. One of the reasons I like this web site is the folks here share the bad with the good and they can laugh at themselves as well as others. I certainly will provide material for you guys as I laugh at myself and tell my tales and hopefully a brag or two.

Drinking Buddy; Thanks for humoring me. I can see how that trip definitely smarted. Fishing in the harbor with the 5 & 7 year old grandkids will be a thrill and make me the Hero Papa. I've done this  in Tahoe but the fish just weren't happing. One kid at a time can sit in front of me in the outback. There he or she can peddle, steer and fish. I hope other family obligations don't monkey wrench this. Thanks Montana for the hookup post.
