I did that all the time when I was a kid. Not bright.

:tongue11: Me too...and get this; my mom's boyfriend at the time gave me a tiny jar (maybe 1/2 oz) of liquid mercury that he got from work.  I thought it was so cool to pour it into my hands and roll it around.  My wife said "Well, that explains a lot" when I told her... :tongue3:

I spent years on the river in Texas biting split shots, burning trash with every kind of toxic material you can imagine and sitting in the back of my parents Esquire wood grain panel station wagon breathing gas fumes. I sat at the dinner table every night while my dad smoked his unfiltered Pall Mall cigs.

That's why I don't worry about the tax man. I'de rather get munched doing what I love than wait for all that stuff to have it's final effect.
Everybody dies, not everybody lives. What did you do today?

I dunno, I used to have amphibs outlook, but then I hit my 50s and i'm still doing fun stuff - and want to keep doing it.

After seeing this, I'm wondering if it's worth making my own jig heads even though I do all the things recommended on the list.

That's the problem with life......you get really addicted to it.

i used to bite split shots as a kid.  Now, when i'm sorting tackle pre-trip, i wear latex gloves.

I'd bet our membership has so much lead in its collective system, we could use our d--ks as pencils.

Inability to have children
Kidney problems
High blood pressure
Brain damage
Digestive problems
Hearing, vision and muscle
coordination problems"

Yeah, we would play mercury soccer in science class, flicking the little blobs of it across lab tables.

I'm still a younger dude but i would way rather buy my lead from the tackle shop than make my own! I've looked into making my own leadheads for swimbaits but after you account for the toxicity of the whole procedure I don't think it makes any sense!

lead, smog, too much sun, ect, ect..... Why worry about it, theres a thousand diffrent ways to die in any given day, and we'll all be there. So i say have fun live for god and why worry about the end.

i casted about 200 bullets last night using melter scuba weights and had a fan blowing away from myself and the production pot the whole time. also wore gloves, respirator. the casting process is fun and all but i really got to thinking and i think i will no longer do this in the walkway behind my small apartment just to be safe and for the safely of my family. i will go to my parents and do it in their big backyard instead.

i think my method was pretty safe but just for peace of mind i think i will do it where nobody is in the area. i dont want to look back and regret something later.

not worth risking the health of others for something i like to do so i'll take my tools elsewhere next time.
