For Adults Only!

Now that I know I have you attention it is important for all Californians to read this message and take action! We are on the verge of losing more of our Second Amendment Rights here in California within days!
On Thursday the California Senate passed AB962 (Ammunition Sales Restriction)on a vote of 21-18.
It now goes back to the Assembly and if it passes goes to the Governor for his signature.

What is AB962:

    * Ammunition retailers would have to store ammunition in such a manner that it would be inaccessible to purchasers.
    * The bill still requires that individuals purchasing ammunition be fingerprinted at the time of sale.
    * Mandates that dealers keep these records and make them available for inspection by the Department of Justice.
    * Finally, mail order ammunition sales will be prohibited.

Don't say you don't have the five minutes to call and just say, "Vote NO on AB 962" to protect your rights!
If you don't contact your Assembly person on Monday, September 14th, YOU are part of the problem!

Don't regret later that when you could have help you didn't!

To get your Assembly person's phone number go to this website  http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/yourleg.html

why is this a big deal? we would still be able to buy ammo and it might help law enforcement solve crimes.

AB 962 Update

I was notified by one of my readers that it was too late to contact your Assembly person because AB 962 had passed. I just confirmed with Ed Worley of the NRA that indeed the bill is on its way to the Governor. Now everyone needs to contact the Governor and request he VETO this bill.

Latest Info from the NRA:

09/11/2009 - Today, AB962 Mail order Ammo Ban passed the Assembly (44 Yes - 31 No). The bill now goes to the Governor's desk. In order for AB962 to NOT become law, the Governor must actively veto the bill within 30 days. Please contact the Governor's office and urge a veto of AB 962.

# 1 the easiest no more catalog orders , I buy almost all ammo thru the internet
#2 privacy
# 3 control Its another law against gun owners
Why do they need to know how much and what kind of ammo I buy
When do they get to say sorry you bought too much this yr. week, day
You really think criminals who have no problem getting guns will have a problem getting ammo.
Use your imagination they already have a plan and its moving ahead.

It may not seem a big deal on the surface, but its just another chip and eventually they are eroding away at our rights and liberties till one day we are all going.. huh?  what happened?     What gets me is that law abiding citizens would have to be finger printed and the store keep a record of what ammo we buy.. criminals dont get their ammo down at the big 5  so there is no record of what they have.

It's called creeping incrementalism... chip away in baby steps that mostly fly under the radar to achieve the intended goal... it seems to be the favored appraoch of the gun-control crowd as far as I can tell.

A couple years ago I was all up in arms about Walmart wanting to swipe my drivers licence when I bought handgun ammo there and swore I'd never buy another round from them... I guess that was small potatos.

So many things to be PO'd about... so little time.

Yes I have always felt they would never outright ban guns.  All they have to do is make it harder and harder to legally get them.   My prediction is that soon they will want a “small” one time license fee for every handgun we buy or own, probably no more than 10 or 20 dollars.   Then expand it to rifles and shotguns too.  The onetime fee suddenly becomes a yearly fee.  The fee starts to rapidly increase until it is very difficult to justify paying it, especially for those of us who own more than a few.  In the end we end up turning many of them back to the State or more likely sell them on the black market.  At the very least we have a bunch of unlicensed guns that are useless to us because we can now no longer take them out of our homes.   Repeat the same for ammunition, powder and bullets.  In the end the only ones who will legally have guns are the rich.  Fewer hunters and target shooters and presto in a few years your problems are solved.  Well all except that pesky little problem that it will have absolutely no affect on criminals.

I guess you haven't heard  about the hr45 bill 45$ yearly tax imposed by irs per gun and anyone caught with an unregistered gum  well you can guess the rest. That would include black powder and antiques

This is fucking bullshit!  I'm sick and tired of these damn people messing with my guns......

We can't fish hear, can't fish there.  Can't catch this fish can't catch that fish.
We got to pay extra to fish this spot and buy an extra stamp for that fish. The HR45 ...WTF is that!  How much is that going to cost me a year?.....$1,000+ a year.

I just don't understand how this will help stop crime?

All,

If you do send a message to the gov. don't forget to ask him to consider a veto for;

Senate Bill 585 (Leno), a bill which would prohibit firearms sales at the Cow Palace in San Francisco.  The language in SB 585 is virtually identical to the final language contained in Assembly Bill 2498 (Leno) from the 2007-08 legislative session and would prohibit firearms sales at the Cow Palace in San Francisco.

This is an ex SF city supervisor who is now in the state senat. This half wit believes if we move legal gun sales away from the projects that will solve the crime problem in the area.

I have lost all hope in our elected officials when I was young I used to think our "leader" were the best and the brightest. Now I know I was a very naive kid.

I just read HR45 and it looks like it is stalled in committee.  The license proposal is for $25 and good for 5 years.  The IRS has nothing to do with it; it is the DOJ BATF.

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c111:H.R.45:

It still is a dumb law that shouldn't pass, but it isn't as bad (yet) as represented here.  In its current form, the licensing requirement is for any handgun and any other firearm that is capable of receiving a magazine.

It also includes starter pistols. hehe.

I'll keep my guns and you can keep "the change".
That was a bumper sticker I saw a few monthes back. Most people who are concerned or don't own guns(all kinds) don't think that any little new law is a big deal. Well its already been said a few times and its REAL; they keep chipping away at OUR rights until there is little to no private gun ownership left!

I took two rounds for this country, if they expect me to pay for my guns, or be taxed, they have another thing coming. I have the right to keep and bear arms.  I would feel very sorry for the persons that are ordered to disarm me.
