Dude, I want that boat so bad but, it'll be kinda hard to hide it from my wife. She already freakout when I bought my second kayak.

I think he's fallen in love with his other/newer Adventure.  Or maybe the lady is giving him an ultimatum.  I don't really know, just speculating.

I am curious as to how he arrived at the selling price.  Maybe it is what the wife's new kayak will cost?

Well, i AM headed to vegas . . . As for how to arrive at that price, doesn't everyone like palindromes containing the number 6?  And $1661 woulda seemed a little high, $161 a little low.  BTW, that's the NCKA member price.  Its a grey boat. Motivation to sell: just out of room at home, trying to cull the herd, 'ya know??

All kinds of kookiness on stinking cl.  its never just as simple as "the boat is here, come with cash if you want it."

everything from:
"you take a check?"
"what else comes with it?"
"throw in a thule rack?"   
"got a sail kit?"
"i'm buying it for my GF, can you give it to me for a $1k?"
"this is all I have..."

In the end, I sold it to a youngish couple out of oakland. 

CL bargaining tip. 

Tell everyone not to bother coming unless they have cash in hand for the full list price. 

If they are serious, they'll make a pit stop at the bank before wasting your time.  Otherwise, they just won't come and you saved yourself an hour of BS.
