One Fish, Two Fish - Fishing Math

The out of town fisherwoman is the better angler, she catches harder to catch fish, by catching ten of the available fish in the hole on one single day. She puts a bigger dent in the population of the hole. The local woman just catches one easy to catch fish after another on different days. Those fish, are not unlike human dumbasses. You are likely to run into at least one per day. Another way to look at it is....removing one from a population isn't as damaging as removing 5 potential spawning pairs all at once.

The woman who catches one a day, did the damage to the hole. She told the other woman. Then with two women knowing where the hole is. Soon everyone in town knew where the hole is. By the time the 1st woman caught number ten, her last fish. Fish and game found out about the hole. They made the hole and three adjacent holes, in each direction off limits. The fish flourished until, the protected otters moved in and ate all the fish. Now there are no fish in the hole. 

Neither. Anglers do not damage fisheries by legally harvesting fish. Fish are a renewable resource and harvest regulations are based on sustainable harvest from compensatory populations. In fact, by participating in fishing and purchasing a license to do it, those anglers are actually enhancing the fishery by financially supporting  conservation and management efforts for all fisheries.
