You just go for a nice boat ride. The water was good until the wind came up( imagine that at Tomales). I arrived late to find those Leepin folks on the water. Sorry guys I slept overtime. I stopped at Petaluma Sport and Dive to grab some frozen and Jedmo drove by. I followed him out and we launched about 8:30. Went over to a little point and made bait for an hour. I just couldnt stop. I had my ultra-light trout rod with 6lb and when I had 3 mac's on at the same time it was a gas. Drifted until the wind got big around 12:30 and called it. It was a great day on the water though. I saw my 2 homie fishing buds and Jedmo. I decided that the macs will make better ling bait than food so I froze thier asses off to be used at a later date. Hopefully HORSESHOE! AOTY mackerel. Holy Toledo!

Dude! are you fishing again?   Jeez, your wife must really like you.  :smt003

I love catching those macs.  And they eat pretty well too when fresh.

Those are really nice sized macs. Do you brine them at all before you freeze them or just throw them in the cooler? I ask because Chucke brined some fresh caught chovies and they looked really nice afterward. Real shiney and tasty looking.

Good to hear the mackerel are still around! Too bad the halibut weren't cooperating.
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

Good going guys. Sorry I bailed Jedmo--next time. WX VHF said Bodega Buoy was 26 knots at 0700 so switched to HMB thinking Tomales would be blown out--just goes to show you what happens when you put too much faith in the NWS. HMB looked too nasty to go out though--18 knots gusting to over 20. I will get up there soon.

Nice capture of the bird and me in the background. I'm glad I was able to get out
at least and try out the new boat with the new rod holder I mounted. It held up
OK considering the amount of seaweed we had to deal with. Nice fishing with
you Craig, Patrick, and Allen today. I had a great time. Now if I can only put more
blood stain on the yak, I'll be a happy camper. :smt044 Oh, for a quick laugh for
all of you, I heard a splash behind me  as I was pulling my kayak to shore. A guy
fell off his kayak(tandem) and my immediate reaction was to help him up. Instead,
I fell on my face almost. Thank God for the dry seaweeds that broke my fall. I
did not see that stupid rock behind me that caused me to trip over myself. That was
classic. I wish there was a video of it. Sorry for the tread jack Craig. I thought I'd
share that's all.

Wish I coulda been there. I'm sure they're still around. The blank days give you a greater appreciation for the full days....

OH, They are still there....especially the one that was IN my kayak and then back IN the water! One more good shredded bait as well.
Earlier in the morning while catching tons of mackerel I noticed a pair of R-cons (Trailer Park Boys Reference) on shore watching us so  I cruised over and tossed them a fat bait. They were so excited the pair just circled the offering walking around on their hind legs..quite a show.

Where you catching the Macks on lures or bait? Sounds like bait but asking any way--what kind?

Using Sabiki rigs. We caught mackerel, sardines, and smelt. Craig and Jedmo could hardly pull themselves away from catching bait to halibut fish. Tons of fun! Really no need for a bait bucket as you just fish for bait as you need it.
