I am bringing a some knife jigs, a mountain of Salas 6x jrs, a couple of surface irons and a lot of good hooks and flouro.  I'm not bringing anything for calicos because they don't do it for me.  I will bring some stuff for halis, but doubt I'll focus on them.

Otherwise its a bait tank, gaff, bonker, game clip and my plano.  Can't wait!!!!

The good news:

I'm set to go with a new Abu Revo reel, and a Daiwa Saltist as well, and I can't wait to hear them sing. I'm a bit reluctant to even use them around here, because my cheaper stuff works just fine, and I won't cry if it gets boogered up or lost.

Terminal tackle won't require much of an investment, just a few more hooks. Like Sean, I have a lot of faith in the Salas Jr, green or blue. If I can't get em on that or live bait, I'll take up knitting.

Can't wait!

Hey, Tote

looks like you found a screaming deal on knife jigs. I seem to remember paying maybe twelve, and seeing them priced at twenty.

Care to reveal your source?    :smt001

You are really thinking 50# Tote?

I too am going with YT lust.

I am so far planning Abu inshore and Trevalla with 20#, Tekota with 25# and Catalina reel and Baidarka rod with 40#.  All are braid with mono top shot.

I have a new Sealine 20 with upgraded drag washers.  Any suggestions on what I put on it?

I am thinking to pair the Sealine with a Shimano rod 15-30.

Any suggestions?

Here is what Walker and I settled on:
20lb, 30lb, & 40lb setups. The 20lb & 30lb have 300yds of 50lb spectra with 100yd top shot. the 40lb set ups have 65lb spectra with top shot. If we are fishing in the kelp my thinking is to take off the top shot and just use the spectra with 6' of floro. to cut kelp.
Terminal gear is simple: yo yo jigs, surface jigs, and hooks for bait. A handful of sliding sinkers and torpedoes. That's it.
Fishing from the big boat... hmm... wish I had a 9' rod for throwing bait and surface jigs. Would like to try that.
Tuna! Yellowtail! let's go!!!!!

Rocketman you have the right idea.  Keep those topshots short in the kelp.

Single or treble on the iron? Any opinions? I am leaning towards single, but will I get a good set on a hardmouth YT with the single hook on lighter gear?

Patrick I personally lean towards single hooks. I seem to get more solid hookups and its a lot less dangerous if it comes flying back at you. :smt002
