Yo Mooch in or outside the harbor?

Inside - just right next to the bathrooms - you can catch 'em ANYWHERE. There are really no hot spots- that's how thick it is :smt045

Joel....brother......I think you're taking the term Hella Asian to new heights.  Those dines have been in the harbor all summer....and its ....well.....freakin filthy!

I wasn't the best at playing connect the dots but you got storm drains, that rank bathroom at the ramp that they just hose down with all the waste water going into the storm drains, all those jetty fisherman.....not "holding it" while fishing on the jetty, birds doin there thing and salty old liveaboards with no way to dump holding tanks.....sounds like your eating fish out of a clogged toilet bowl.  That my friend is living legend status and well beyond hella asian....thats freakin Genghis Khanh sh*t dude.

You are my hero :smt001

I appreciate your "concern" but growing up in a 3rd world country...my "conditioned" stomach can handle it  :smt002

I was back there again and was expecting to see Darius but bumped into Ramsey / BML instead (who was there to fish for bait) so we hung out and "fished for Darius"...I had a good bucket going for him but he was a no-show....kept my catch anyway and zip locked them by the dozen and made my round around town before I went home. Dropped off some fish to my local mom and pop grocery shop, local gas station and local hard wear / deli store...the left overs I saved for my cat-fish bait for my future camping trip to lake Sonoma...or maybe even the Forebay...or even Mendo....

Ramsey, it was fun "out catching" you  :smt002

*The fishing is still HOT......I decided to call Princeton Harbor the "Flemish Cap or Grand Banks of Baitfish"  :smt003 If you guys have kids, this is the place to take 'em...the fishing is pretty consistent. Might just go out there to C&R again tomorrow....will use a de-barbed rooster tail on my trout rod  :smt045

Mooch,

Thanks for info about the mackerel bite.   Hope I get some.  They are good marinaded in vinegar, garlic and lots of pepper.   I deep fry them and have them for almusal (breakfast) with kamatis (tomatoes).

My wife loves broiled Mackerel at Japanese restaurants. And we've had Sardines and Anchovies in Greek restaurants many times. All are delicious when prepared properly in a variety of ways. Plus they are full of Omega-3s and have accumulated little or no Mercury so you can eat all you want.

Al, in my opinion, people put too much stock in what the fish eat--has nothing to do with their food-worthiness for humans. If you saw what crabs eat on a daily basis (catfish too) you'd never eat another one. I personally gut them and clean them though--you are right that their guts might contain things you don't want around long--even if cooked because cooking is uneven sometimes.

Bob, I think it has everything to do with food worthiness.  Crab, in my experience fishing for them, are not fond of old rotted/stinkin/freezer burned bait.  They're more into the fresh dead stuff, not a problem with me. I've reluctantly had delta cats when one of the guys staying at our houseboat fried one up for us.  It tasted like mud cause thats where the nasty buggers grub and IMO not worthy of the table. I'm sure farm raised cats are way better cause they're not living in and eating filth.

Either way, I didn't post cause I was concerned for Joel's safety.....posted cause joel is eating fish out of a toilet bowl and deservedly earned the title of King of all things Asian.

That's cool--these forums are for discussion and opinionated discourse. I like to think we respect our differing points of view because we all have a love of fish, fishing, and kayaking--preferable all together when practical. I mean no disrespect to you , I don't disrespect you because your opinion differs from mine, nor am I certain I am right or that there is a right in most of these kinds of discussions anyway. Maybe they are pointless in a way to some, but I learn from them--from my fellow kayakers who collectively know far more than me about nearly everything. That's just how I roll.

As for Mooch--Joel has a reputation to sometimes (in his own words) go "Hella Asian" on us. Like that Moss Landing tourney where he and someone else fried up their left over squid bait on the barby--which is where I heard him say "That is Hella Asian, Dude!".

And what makes him attractive to other fish-loving friends as seen below...I am not sure he was wearing his sundress but that didn't matter to that guy  :smt007 :smt008  :smt044
