I am loving the new lifestyle you all have started. I feel better about
myself and the compliment I get from coworkers and family. So it is all
about moving forward for me. Once I reach my goal weight which is
150lbs, I will be lifting weights and trying to get some definition. That's
my goal anyhow. So if I start slacking off, I may need some  :smt079

FYI - my wife has lost a lot - about 40 lbs by following the recipes and guidelines in "The Jungle Effect" by Daphne Miller. She studies the diets of people in "cold spots", or places in the world where chronic disease is virtually unknown. Okinawa and Iceland are two that I can remember. It's a bit of a learning curve to work out the recipes, but my wife wholeheartedly recommends it to anyone who's interested. Two of the main ideas are - food isn't an intoxicant, it's medicine, and processed foods are really bad for you. My wife swims about 3 times per week for aerobic health as well. Good luck!

I started at about 212-215 cant remember.  That was after almost a full year of injuring my knee, then having surgery, then recovering from surgery and gaining about 30 lbs during the whole process.  Weighed myself this morning at 192.  During the week, 3-4 days, its been alot of Muay Thai, Gi jujitsu and the weenie cardio kickboxing class (<good warm up for the other two and a couple hot chicks...not all bad.)  Ultimate goal is back down to about 165-170 and lean.

I want to lose weight! I'm in! So what do we do? Do I post a picture of me standing on scale?  :fat

Frank
I wouldn't go so far as to call a lingcod filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a lingcod's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Started around 205, got down to 198ish, back up to 208, started skating again and wife started weight watchers and I am down to 197. Ready for round II! I need to be around 165ish but my goal is 175 right now.

I'm in!!!

I have been hovering around 225 for awhile now and would be stoked to try and get back down to 215/210ish...

My buddies and I had a Biggest Loser competition earlier this year.....I ended up gaining 3 pounds!!!
 :smt009

I have been running a bunch, paddling on the weekends and cutting back (somewhat) on the beer, but can't seem to get below 220 no matter what....

I'm looking forward to giving it another try though!!

Sincerely,

Jim

My scale is still on the boat, so I haven't weighed in for almost 2 months. I suspect it will not be good news when it finally arrives, since beer is the national drink of Wales and I have been heartily embracing the heritage of my new nation.........  :beer2

I think everyone who lost weight 'won'.  ;)

Just curious though, is Monday our STARTING weight for the next round?  That'd create an incentive to binge this weekend, might be better to use our updated weight from when this thread started...  I'm sure those biggest loser shows involve a major porking up right before the show starts, take a pack of immodium, eat a ton of salty food, ect....

Why on earth would you do that to yourself for bragging rights among fatties?  I mean, if you lay me 3:1 at $5,000 that I can't lose 50 lbs. before Jan. 1, 2010 and initial weigh in is monday, I'm probably gonna binge until initial weigh in and wear a plastic suit between Christmas and final weigh in.  But bragging rights?  You take those pretty seriously I guess.

I'm about 270, wife's bugging me to eat healthier and drink less beer so I'm in.  Fair warning though, I'm a pro at losing weight - I've lost 40 lbs at least 5 times before.

Sigh.
