I see a lot of kicking opponents on the ground/back of head...that wouldn't be allowed nowadays...in a few of the fights highlighted is obviously out of it, and the ref isn't even paying attention!!! :smt009 damn what all out wars... :smt044 :smt044 :smt044

Those highlights are from Pride Fighting Championships. Their rules allowed stomps, knees to the head of a downed opponent, and SOCCER KICKS!! But for some reason elbows were not allowed...lol.

:smt005 :smt009 :smt005 damn...ive not seen those bouts I've been re watching each...unbelievably huge bouts...cant wait to show my dad...on a side note my dad likes WWW and all the other mixes' of wrestleling...I just can't get into it...my grandfather watched it...my dad watches it...but I just cant handle "fake" even though they are great athletes and the injury's they sustain are real...just not me man...I have to get up and go fishin when the ole man puts on the WWE...i dont' know, hits a nerve... :smt003

To compare with the likes of Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan? Whole different ball game no? Holyfield triumphed over Tyson. To wear such shoes of the greats, isn't there more than short lived personal accomplishment/talent? How about Legacy? Mooch and speedos? From what I gather of MMA, I would wager to bet, that in true mythical battle of testament, Gracie would prevail over Fedor. Just my 2cents

The original Tiger thread was about personal sports heroes, not so much legacies, historical importance or impact on the game.  My guess is that Mooch's MMA IQ is as low as his fishing IQ so when he says he wants a Royce V. Fedor matchup....he's really talking about them actually throwing down, which would be no contest.

Fellas, believe me, I've been watching MMA since '01. Fedor kills Royce 10 out of 10 times. Even if it was a 100% grappling match with no strikes. Royce has no chance against Fedor.

Hell, Royce got demolished by Matt Hughes who is 50lbs lighter and NOWHERE near the grappler that Fedor is.

And, if you know anything about MMA, Fedor is the Michael Jordan of MMA. 30 wins and 1 extremely controversial loss (fight was stopped due to a cut from an illegal blow), and 1 no contest.

Cordell Banks was made a sanctuary in 1989. Dustin will understand.

Then how did I fish it multiple times in 1997 and 1998? I lived in Italy in 1989 and didn't start to fish again until after I graduated in 1994....and I've fished at Cordell at least five times.

Dustin you were able to fish Cordell Banks in the late 90's because, a National Marine Sanctuary and a Marine Reserve are not necessarily the same things.

Cordell Bank was open to groundfish fishing until 2004 (subject to max depth limits at the time and the min depth of the bank it self in spots).  In 2003 and again in 2004, groundfish at Cordell Bank underwent emergency closures for the remainder of the season.  The 2005 season never opened and this emergency closure was set to expire in 2008 but was made a permanent at that time and Cordell Banks has remained closed to fishing.

Here's an old announcement from CDFG in 2004 when the current closure first started.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up for Craig.  :smt003

In saving the deep water rockfish, the DFG subjected the inshore waters of Nor-Cal to the rape and pillaging of the party boat fleet.

I've mentioned this many times because it's one of the few instances of change that I can directly correlate with my fishing experiences. I started kayak fishing in 2003 and the majority of my saltwater adventures were to Fort Ross.

Back then 6+lb verms, coppers, and canaries were a pretty common catch along with multiple large lings and the occcasional gangster cab. Every year since the depth restrictions were put in place the quality of catch at Fort Ross has plummeted. It's still a decent place to pick up some rockies...but nothing like it was just 5 or 6 years ago.

With the upcoming MLPA closures, my pessimistic side leads me to believe that in a few more years the fishing at the fort will be mediocre at best.

I'd say sorry for the threadjack....but it was my thread to begin with.  :smt003

Fedor vs Gracie?? I put my $$ on Fedor in under 3 minutes every time.
One of the biggest differences between good fighters and great fighters is their ability to transition from one position/move/style to the next without so much as a micro second of hesitation.
Fedor goes from throwing punches to taking down his opponent to making his opponent tap out with ZERO gap in his movements.
It all just flows. No matter what his opponent is doing to try to counter there is no time for him to even comprehend/react to what is hapening next.
I challenge Fedor one on one to....ab diving. :smt044
