Jim,

only kindness will win the day for kayakfishing.

IMO: With kindness we can create a forum that has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere =  positive vibe, we then attract more people and with more numbers, our voice gets bigger and bigger and soon enough, we get so BIG that we can be heard with out having to shout :smt002

Jim, You DO have a place in NCKA, your just a brother with a different tone but we still share the same goal.

* I don't like surfers cause they are little too aggressive for me...and this is why I'd rather be on a stand-up-paddle board...so I can paddle away from you kooks  :smt002 :smt003

Peace out  :smt001

You are also right about the kindness "on here" among NCKA. That is important. Next time I am speaking satiricaly I will make sure and post up that fact to avoid any confusion and also try to balance any negativity with an equal dose of positivity. This discussion has been very helpful. jim

I say we show up at all future MLPA meetings in speedos.  When our turn to speak comes, we turn on a boom box blasting Billy Squires hit "stroke me."  At the chorus we all stand up and make the gesture as we yell "stroke, stroke, stroke."   When they say we are being obscene, we say we are referring to our paddle stroke..."what were you referring to? Pervert." :smt003

We will probably still lose, but definitely will make the get togethers more lively. :smt003

I've met you Eugene (you *and* your big ol' halibut  :smt003 ). If you and I showed up in speedos it would empty the room before the music started   :smt044

Lots of stuff going on here..., but, I thought we're talking about the "law" and what it is... As I understand it, the "law" doesn't include any distance needed from furbags, BUT to disturb or alter their normal behavior is the problem. Half the time, I get within 10 or 15ft. of them and they don't move an inch, then sometimes they all hit the water. So many questions come from this, how often do we see 15 furbags on open water, heading straight for us? 5 of which try to board us. Often... Is talking to them abusive? Hope not. Ya, splashing them probably is. God knows, to let them know that I'm around is best thing I can do... Thinking about it, many of you are right, the more we debate this, the more likely that we'll have new regs. I also think that to engage w/ tree hugger's is a no win deal, let's face it, they've got the numbers... Lot's more to say, but I've got to get up early to pound the Jetty!!!

Domenic and I shared some time on the water today.  He's been off the board for a bit, so I updated him on this post.  We agreed that it seems unadvisable to teach wild animals that we'll turn our rear end toward them and duck down whenever we see them.  Offering submissive behavior to an animal that we're already training to not fear us is just a bunch of crap.  We deserve the right to hold our ground.  I'm not talking about harrassing animals that are minding their own business doing their natural thing.  The key there is "natural".  If we had sharp sticks we'd try to kill that hunk of meat...  back in the day.  So now that it's obvious that no one is going to be spearing a seal and eating it we're supposed to go 180 degrees and actually invite it to dominate us?!!  That's bullshit.

Without harrassing it, we need the right to show that animal that we are a force to reckon with - not a submissive and powerless smaller critter who can be take advantage of.

I'll keep splashing them, paddling toward them, barking and belching at them as loud as I can, slapping the water with my paddle, chasing them down, hucking my hardware at them if they're competing for the same fish I am...  "Harrassment"...  Phooey!    :smt011

Abking, believe me, I'm with you. It's just the interpitation of the regs, anyones guess, and I don't want to be caught up in anything that's going to ruin my day.

It's true - I'm spoiled by the remoteness of my haunts...  I feel for you guys that have more seal-protectors around while you're fishing.  I guess I wouldn't mind hearing that a "Jerry" got boarded and molested by a big furbag...

The bottom line for me is that some people seem to be trying to reverse the natural order of things.  We are NOT below seals on the food chain, and we shouldn't have to act like it.
