Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.

How do my dear NCKA'ers?

Tis Eastern Boy here.

I hope you are all well and filling your tankwells with rockies!

Thought I would drop in and say hello. Well, I say drop in, but of course I have been reading the reports every day. It's a habit thats hard to break. Especially when you're not even trying.

Life in Wales has so far been an unabated torrent of joy. It's really good to be home. It will get even better when the yaks arrive and I can get out into some Atlantic waters.

I have been shore fishing a few times. Caught a few mackerel but have not yet had any joy with anything more challenging.

We did get out for some clamming during this weekends big tides. Bought back many fond memories of Tomales. Clamming here is a little less work tho'. No spades required.

I made a video;

Of course the first thing we did upon arrival in the UK was go to the pub. It was a little more challenging than strolling down to the Mission........... (it rains a lot in Wales. It has been a particularly wet summer............)

Great to hear from you Phil! Theresa and I were just talking about you guys the other day and wondering how you are. The razor clams look great, and the pub sounds like fun too. I'm looking forward to seeing some reports once you get your yaks. Perhaps we'll see a report from you with a nice conger eel from the yak?  :thumleft:

Northern Boy & Lisa, good to hear from you! Glad to see you're both adjusting well to the Welsh countryside. Too bad about the pub that day - didn't know pubs ever closed in Wales...
Keep us posted on the yak arrival.  :smt004

Phil it was nice to see your post! Very interesting. I was supposed to go Razor clamming in Washington state but never made it. I wonder if that technique works up there? Any comment Zee?

Phil and Lisa it was so good to hear and see you guys smiling and laughing. Iam sitting here with a big grin listening to you two. I love the video. Please make more and send them to us. We miss you guys. I will alaways remember the pic in the rain of you with your sturgeon and clamming together at Tomales.

Dont hide down here, this is a fishing report for Gods sake. :smt006

Hey folks.

Thanks for the kind words  :smt006

Sorry the audio is a bit crappy; the wind was actually pretty calm but you know how it is with a camera.

Yes, the squirt bottle contains sea water with added salt; lots. Lisa copied an old chinese guy and walked around backwards scraping her feet on the sand; it seemed to expose the holes. I preferred a more roving approach. As soon as you seen a hole, squirt in a ton of the salt solution. The theory is this tricks Calamity Clam into thinking the tide has suddenly come back in and he pops back upm hoping to find some grub. Instead he finds your hungry fingers. One then has to apply very even steady pressure to ease them out of the hole.

The hole itself is a bit difficult to describe, but you get the idea from the video.
The only other thing required is a very low tide.

The yaks should arrive in the next couple of weeks, although we've been messed around a bit already so who really knows. Once I'm back otw I'll post a report in the reports section! Hopefully featuring big tope and conger. Or at least some more mackerel.

Ben; Rox is still in "quarantine" with her "granny" in Virginia. She should be here in........ 6 weeks  :smt009
