Redyak has the pics. I hope they're worth it! Everybody else made it in fine.

No sympathy for me, though. Bird offered to stash my rods for me (I couldn't in my yak 'cause I had my wheels in my front hatch) and I said, "Nah, I think I'll be OK".

Sorry about the hit; it's gotta hurt, but glad your OK.

ouch man. I thought snapping my pole bringing in a tiny mud marlin was bad. Sorry about your loss...but like most of america in a morbid sense of curiousity I am patiently looking forward to the footage...  :smt069

Here is my anger vid...not from a yak...

Rebuilding my kit, last year I put everything on the curb for free. Some lucky guy and his gal scooped everything. Remind me never to do that again.
Items needed:
4mm wetsuit 2xl?
vhf                                  new paddle (using my paddles from 1996)
lip gripper                       crab pot
new yak...(in my dreams)

Damn, that sucks!  Sorry to hear about the unwanted garage sale, and hope your offerings to the gods results in good fishing karma with your new rigs!  That being said, where are the pics?  Just kidding, your description was enough to make us all cringe.  Glad you are OK and good luck with the salty rig.

I share your pain. I lost my bait pole when i knocked it out of my pole holder with the butt of my halibut pole. It has a shimano Sahara reel  on an ugly stick , prob 120$ to replace.

That sucks!!! Glad you shared, cause I will stash if asked. Its always better to learn from others. I actually haven't learned from others yet; I always seem to have to learn the hard way.

The video of the broken rod is pretty funny!  Could it have been that you bent it a bit too much?  Other than ugly sticks most rods can only bend backwards too far and as you know if you put the rod straight up while trying to beach something that big the top of the rod can not handle it!  Oh well we all have donated equiptment along the way!  I watched a buddy of mine fighting a snag while ling fishing in a pb, and  when he tried to free the lure it just snapped the rod in half!  He also had a long leader and was trying to net a salmon (I know wha is that?) and managed to some how loose both the salmon and the rod and reel!  He didn't realize it until he turned around to re rig for the next troll!

Ouch! Sorry bro.Hopefully after the class it won't happen again...or at least not with such costly consequences.I'll do an analysis on the landing/dump and we can at least learn from it.

Dustin,
That sucks!  I got tossed a few weeks ago but got lucky and only lost my anchor, and screwed up my fishfinder.  Somehow my rod stayed in the Ram holder upside down.  At least you're Ok.
