I was on a little bike ride the other day and found what MAY be the closest launch to Angel Island.  It is in downtown Tiburon right next to the entrance to the Corinthian Yacht Club parking lot.  The first building next to the parking lot entrance has a Public Access sign on it.  It is basically a walkway around the building to the back.  Once in the back, there is a railing and dircectly on the other side is the beach.  It's not much of a drop, maybe 3-4'.  Two people could easily hand a kayak over the railing.  You'd need to pull up as close as you can and unload, then park in one of the lots in Tiburon.  BTW, tides look good for this paddle around 8/28 & 8/29, in the morning.  Reports from a few weeks ago had Halibut being landed right in Racoon Straight.

Looks like a nice place to launch!  Is it a free parking lot in the picture?  Thanks for sharing your finding.

I don't think there's any free parking in Tiburon - not sure about the one in the picture (the one at the bottom of the picture is the Corinthian Yacht Club lot).  I've seen signs at some of the lots on Tiburon Blvd. (about 2 blks away) that say $5 all day.

OK guys I have tried to launch from there and the super rich assholes in the yacht club don't want you anywhere around there
as far as they are concerned it belongs to them. The one guy I talked to was real dick he got in my face waiving his hand's
at me I thought I was going to have punch him out,  :smt013 so if you do make sure you park where you won't get towed. :smt010

That beach at the top of your picture is also a good spot (Sea Trec Kayak Tours is there).  The parking there is only 2hrs but I think there are other options close by.  However, "Public" is "Public" so I'm going to try the spot next to the Corinthian sometime.  Did you launch from the spot I was talking about (over the railing of the building next door) or maybe from the Corinthian parking lot??
