Well then, Lets really open it up my man. I want you all to know that for a fee of 200 dollars Brendan would take me to the promised land for large rockfish and lings. Now what do you think about that. $200 to expose his own privare honey hole. How many clients per year do you take there Brendan? Do you tell them," No pics allowed." You are so full of yourself its sickening. You will sell out your spot for cash but no one else can go there? What do you say now? You are among the worst, a hypocrite. Go ahead and fish salt Point, its the shits anymore anyway.

Pat, who hasn't really been fishing that area very long, or fishing in general

Pat is a skilled angler -  I have no doubts about that. (and yes, I know him personally)

I got friends living near Salt Point who would gladly host me to fish up there... in fact, I've got friends all up and down the coast who would gladly host me to fish with them, and they get what I am saying and respect it and all concepts held behind it...

What respect!!! to newbies? Bro, you should teach and act like an idol to them instead!!!!  :smt005 Joke that's the reason I am not going there cuz I am a  :newbie:

Rhyak as soon as you think that there is no place in Ca. like Big Sur you are nuts. There are plenty of places that are  actually more pristine thna Sur. Oh and please dont ever show your faces in Sonoma County this county is mine and you are not welcome. Stay away for ever because you are not a local here. Ha ha ha ha. Big joke , Huh? :smt006 :smt008

I'm sorry I am completely wrong and you are all right big sur sucks and is not the best fishery that California has to offer in regards to RCG Ya OK think what you want I have fished up there with friends and was not the greatest in my opinion. And will not come up there if a big group holds a massive slaughter and if I would make the trip it would be a personal PM from a friend that I have fished with in the past. Potato_river put it the best it could have been put.

Brandon for calling out Pat OK not cool. But Pat as a gentlemen that fishes BS on a somewhat regular bases and when I fish it usually send an invite don't know why he decided to hold this big of event. :smt011 :smt011 :smt011 But what ever he is allowed to send an invite out this is California and we all pay taxes. I guess you cant explain to someone the whole process this is California and well I'm not gonna go there in regards to that.

As far as me saying that I'm down to go that was before this whole thing got blown out of proportion. If if was a lot smaller group of maybe guys that have fished it before then great but to go to a spot that I'm sorry IS THE BEST IN CALIFORNIA hands down with a group of "experienced" kayakers that have never fished the area No thank you. :smt009 :smt009 :smt009

Small craft advisory for the area as of right. Hopefully it goes away.

Rhyak can you show me where in hell I said Big Sur suicks as a place to fish? No you cant because I didnt say it. There are places just as good though in No. Ca. But its a secret. :smt006

Oooh... burn... Ouch... You've discovered my weakness and dumped kryptonite in my open wounds...
A couple of things:
1) The point I made is not don't ever fish Big Sur... I've always advocated going down and earning your own wings, making your own discoveries, not going through someone who got all their info from me, went and fished a couple of spots, getting led straight to the honey hole... Notice the article that detailed Big Sur fishing spots is down now... its down for a reason... The point is that big groups with a bunch of newbies going down there like that isn't cool, especially when someone kind of new to the scene (3-4 years or so) is leading them down there, and the majority of local fishermen think its kinda whack that he's taking such a big group down there... I think he likes the party and the attention... way to much exposure to quick... refer to Potato Rivers post for more detail...
2) Like or dislike me... Its not really my concern... I don't need to be liked, or a passive voice, to feel good about myself... I've got tons of friends and fishing buddies that pass me the best info on a daily basis and clue me in, and am actually pretty respected in my community... I can be a bit edgy, tho, when it comes to other people making dumb decisions that affect my spots.. I've voiced my opinion and I've got those who support it and those who don't... I'm totally fine with that and I don't really care whether I'm on your cool list or the total opposite... A point needed to be made and I made it. Point made!...
3) Pat, a skilled angler... anyone can catch rockfish but he tried for years before he caught his first flattie, and has only caught one up to this point... I've talked with him a few times, and yes, he does know a bit about fishing, but doesn't blow me away... he's the type of guy that finds out about a good bite and then goes blabbing his mouth all over the internet, and gets it blown up... I don't even know him very well but it is the mark of an unseasoned angler to invite such a big group down to such a rare fishing ground...
3) Ravensblack- I haven't guided in 3 years . I got asked by a couple other people but canceled because I had other things to do. You asked me to take you there to show you some good fishing spots and I agreed, and then you backed out. I really have no interest in guiding any more. I'll take a couple of friends to a spot, or maybe clue someone in who seems cool, but really don't need to guide for money.
4) Hypocrite... I don't think so... I never said one person taking another down to Big Sur was a bad thing.. I said taking huge groups of the internet was... and, do you see me taking loads of slow growing homeguards rockfish.. no, I take fast growing species like seabass, stripers, and halibut that come through our area quickly and then are gone, not sedentary easy to catch reef fish like rockfish and lingcod... Yeah, and that small seabass was legal and dead when it got to gaff, so I kept it... Darius, would you throw back a 24 inch hali.. I don;t think so...
Go ahead and slam me all you want..
Have fun with it...lol
The points I have made are valid, aside from a bit on the localism, but that was more of a tangent anyway...  localism does kinda suck, but so does having a bunch of both locals or non locals blow your spot...
The internet makes things to easy now a days..
Another good fishing spot is gonna get fished out over the years...

Pat, who hasn't really been fishing that area very long, or fishing in general, is kinda shortsighted and doesn't really understand the ramifications of bringing a big group down all at once... What is a Sin Coast anyway?

This thread has shown a lot about many of you folks... There are those of you who get it, and those of you who, are well, kinda dumb and shortsighted

Pat, a skilled angler... anyone can catch rockfish but he tried for years before he caught his first flattie, and has only caught one up to this point... I've talked with him a few times, and yes, he does know a bit about fishing, but doesn't blow me away... he's the type of guy that finds out about a good bite and then goes blabbing his mouth all over the internet, and gets it blown up... Enough with the personal attacks.  You've made your point, now get lost!

OK guys enough is enough, I think everyone knows where everyone stands, no need to continue this.

And everyone stop the personal attacks, it is one thing to disagree, it is another thing entirely to call someone stupid. Brenden I am giving you a pass this time, but not again.

Fine... its all said and done at this point, and the groundswell down there made the fishing tough so there will be no carnage shots, and unnecessary blowing up of the area... Big Sur has a way of deciding who gets to fish the good spots and who doesn't. A few people I know wished a big swell on everyone down there, and it happend. Nature always bats last! Glad you guys got to chill with all your homies. Aaron and I even made a stop through, and said wuttup to a few folks. Bill, I never directly called Pat stupid, though I did say his actions were shortsighted. I had the opportunity to apologize for being so edgy to him in person this weekend, and he in turn admitted to being a hypocrite for a couple of things, including getting on my case for mentioning one of our spots online, when he was planning on holding a big get together. Big Sur is a bit to unpredictable of spot to plan for a big get together that far in advance, and luckily the pay campsites are to few and far between..

Yea like , whatever dude. You shot your mouth off and you are still a questionable person for slamming Pat. Like you and your friends control the weather.  :smt044

Ravensblack-I don't control the weather... no way... many times I have had to cancel a trip because of bad weather, but luckily enough I live so close to the ocean I can usually go home and back to bed. A number of other people wanted to say something about this event, but I was the only one with enough balls and edge to do it... Yeah, and watch it with the personal attacks. If saying someone is acting shortsighted and dumb is a personal attack, then so is calling me questionable.Think what you want.

but then again so are people coming to your neck of the woods to clean all the fish out of your spots.. and, I don't consider it whining... its freedom of expression.

Let me exercise my freedom of expression. It's not your spot! I hope someday you'll get it.

Anyway, for those I fished with and hung out with this past weekend. Thanks for the good times and letting a guy who only attends occasionally feel welcome as always. NCKA rocks! :headbang: So does bloodbath's ceviche!
I wouldn't go so far as to call a lingcod filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a lingcod's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I only claim as much ownership over a certain fishing spot as everyone else who uses and respects it on a regular basis... I call it my spot as I do feel a bit of responsibility for its stewardship, just like Ravensblack called his spot up north his church, and probably felt some ownership when the MPLA commitee took it away from him... Same thing with everyone and their salmon spots... It all the same sort of thing dude... you may not own it but have probably developed a deeper relationship with it over the years then most :smt006
