Honestly, I love to go on this trip, and its the cheapest it can get. before I bid more is this departing in Santa Cruz? how many miles far out it go? I need a place to crash in SC for the night before the trip, any recommendation? Please don't ask me where do I get my WAF points... :smt005

Not sure why it matters, but probably 60 miles or so, blue water no land in sight. If think you'd ever get seasick take something as its a long long day, and there's no turning back. If you don't like blood think hard before going, cause when its ON its nuts and a bloodbath
Sleep in your car, the gutter, wherever....

my last trip was in sept 07 and i'm still thinkng about it

Hard to say how far to run right now.  There haven't been any great reports out of SC recently and with SST shots, the fleet is having a hard time finding them.  There are fish to the north (see Sharky's report on us finding a decent bite at the Pioneer area) and some to the south (saw a report on some fish outside the Davidson, but it was 120 miles from SC).  But the warm water moves fast and with the calm water the next few days, the fleet should find 'em if they are there.  My crystal ball is thinking we'll have a 60 mile run.

It's frustrating, we've had 2 weeks of no SST due to fog layer.  All reports I have heard dupe Alen's reports, and my crystal ball says the same thing.  50-60 miles is my hope.

If not, wel then it will be a great day local fishing with a great boat and crew, and the best companions!

I believe it stands for Sea Surface Temperature.

60-62 degree water outside the Monterey Buoy according the 5PM terrafin shot.  That's probably more like 58-60 degree water as the daytime surface water temps rose about 2 degrees at the Buoy. We were catching them in 58.5-60 degree blue water on Saturday.  Now if only the weather would cooperate.  The long range forecast has the winds picking up later in the week with a bit of south swell mixed in.
