Hey guys, fished paradise park on tues. when i got there there was a party boat fishing about 200 yards past the pier. saw 2 hookups there in about 30 min's. fished dead anchovies with pro cure butt juice. all i was able to catch were 3 sharks and a small bat ray. i guess live bait will cut down on all the unwanted by-catch eh? talked to the people fishing off the pier when i was done and they said they had landed 4 halibuts! i only saw 2 though. I'm knew here and my days off are mon and tues. let me know if anyone wants to try some spots those days.

Get yourself a sabiki, jig up some live bait, then drop them back down to the bottom on a sticky sharp hook. Start drifting and I can damn near guarantee you'll hook a flatty sooner or later. Keep trying and you'll succeed. Don't forget the camera, will be looking forward to your posts  :smt004

hi val,
I went to paradise the folowing mon/ tues...7/13 &7/14..sorry I didn't see your post til now..(I am still 2 week delayed)
I posted hookup but didn't hear from anyone.
that Monday... the 13th..went w/o any bait as my local shop, I discovered belatedly, didn't open until 9am..plus I didn't have mt GPS in my car so I couldn't find the Loch Lomond shop..
Tues  water conditions were great... and like your day, party boats were in close. I saw lots of hookups, even on the left side of pier. strange though was that  Iwas the only yaker there.
not successful in using sabiki from pier despite my high expectations.
finally mooched some dead anchovies from a nice guy on pier who had a big ice chest/ live bait setup.

went back wednesday this time bringing live bait but water conditions were tougher.

saw less hookups, and even the pier was empty. I was perplexed that w/in a day conditions were that dramatically different.

made a couple drfits w/ Crocketeer and watched him get a couple solid bites..he did land a  couple shakers..he had to split early.

I held out in spite of the wind picking up in the afternoon.
finally got a couple good hits...but I went 0/2 for paradise.

good recon for the 2 days efforts..learned more and more each time I go out on water..

definately need to carry heavier wts just in case water conditions change.
for example...tue...2-3 oz worked but weds...need at least 8 oz..
I am better equipped no for either conditions.

wed, went back,

daviator-
i have tried my sabikki rod in that area a few times now and have never been able to get any bait there. i think live bait is the key but it needs to be made in different area. gonna try and get some at lake merritt again or maybe in the lagoon in alameda next time i go. hopefully early this week..
