Took off early from my home office and headed to the dreaded DMV, and brought my yak south to look for some calm water. Not to be found on the Napa River, blowing hard from the west!  Headed to Benicia area, still windy, so went around the corner and fished off the shore while waiting for the calm before sunset.  Had a few hits on chove chunks and then headed out to Benicia Marina to launch.   Did not see any signs of life other than big pelicans hanging on the island.  Trolled lipless crank bait (as usual) and even tried some chovie chuncks from the yak, but no love.  Doing this in October will probably have me setting hooks in my sleep!  Can't wait!

Last week I was in the hills above Port Costa on a suprisingly windless evening and was surprised to see so many yaks traversing the area in front of Benicia and over to the point (dillion Pt) and even on over to the Carquinez Bridge, made me think I ought to try it after work, but at that time of day the Martinez Marina (myside of the bay) is usually sitting in a sheep infested wind tunnel, maybe bridge toll would be worth it.

Thanks for the pics.

lets face it the winds have been howling steadily for almost 3 months now with a few exceptions here and there! Good weather should be coming however, and it will be great having those warm indian summer afternoons and evenings with beautiful sunsets, and will be great to have stripers back up in the Benicia area.  I have had some awesome fishing days near there!

Beautiful pics, Zin. Not a bad way to put in the time. Keep at it, the fish will show.
