When I was stationed at Mare Island, we used to pull similar pranks on each other. We had it set up so that we could park our vehicle on the pier right next to our fishing pole. Then you could take a nap and if a fish picked up the bait, the clicker would wake you up. We used to wait till someone was sound asleep and then we would hook a line across theirs and either reel in fast or just run down the pier. Talk about near heart attacks.
