We had plans to go to Laguna Seca for the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix but sold our tickets at the last minute. Didn't feel like dealing with the crowds so we headed to the mountains instead.  The motorcycles would have been nice but I think I made the right move. Headed out Friday after work to a little lake north of Truckee. I hadn't been there in years and didn't know what to expect. Well I ended up having the whole lake to myself on Saturday and sharing it with a few guys on pontoons on sunday.  It was beautiful, not to cold, not to hot, clear sky's at night and best of all I caught a few fish.  The mosquitos sure suck...MAN!

Thanks for the report. My girl and I went to the Laguna Seca races, it was awesome, not too bad. Just took the shuttle over from the hotel so we didn't have to deal with parking at the track. I have a short vid in my Monterey report of the races I took. But thanks for the report!
Looks a lot more quiet and peaceful than at the track!

Nice fish and pics. Will be at the same place in two weeks, Where were the fish holding? If you don't mind me asking. Did you find them by the dam or creek inlet? I can't wait for some of that same action! It's on!

Great report.  I miss the Sierra's.  Great decision to go to the mountains if you weren't down for the crowds.  The dog looked happy.   :smt001

I'm guessing Milton too. I used to ride dirt bikes up there on fire roads and trails when I was younger. I had a loop that went past there and down to allegany for 90 miles with no pavement. Awesome ride in the summer when its hot and you need to cool off at the lakes.

Used to be an awesome trophy brown trout fishery there as well.
