Sunday was a beautiful North Coast fishing day--flat calm with almost no wind and just enough overcast to prevent a sunbun.  There was a south to north current, about 2mph, perfect for drifting around the kelp.

We (2 yaks) paddled south of Salmon Creek bridge and out to the outer kelp line.  We fished the outer kelp and deep reefs up to the south edge of Van Damme.  On the return to Albion we fished the shallow reefs and  inner kelp.  We covered a little over six miles in about 6 hours.  We each caught a limit of assorted rock fish--no verms or cabs but two just-short lings.  Big fish was a black about two pounds.  We kept enough for fish tacos.  Not great results but a great day fishing in a great area.

We had a friendly visit from DFG in a patrol boat with twin 275 hp outboards.
They checked licenses, nets, and fish and were on their way.

The Albion campground is a great location with easy launch and a short, calm paddle to the ocean.  I saw one nice ling brought in and talked to Albion campers who caught lings and verms earlier in the week.  I hope to make it up at least once more before the 25th.

No pics--Olympus is in for flood repair.
