Darius,

Spend some time sitting on the beach watching the wave sets. You'll learn. Look at things like how many waves in a set and at what timing, how many seconds or minutes between each wave... Then what is the lull time until the next set. What directions are the waves moving, is there also an outside break? What's happening on the beach side (face of the wave), what's the swell pattern, height, direction, etc....

Bean's a great place to study these things, there's a lot going on there with the steep beach , the outside break, hidden rocks just below the surface....

Ask a lot of questions to the more experienced guys as you assess the launch.

Friday after I landed, there was a guy and gal getting ready to launch their sit ins  at the midpoint of the beach. I asked them if they've launched here before, he had, she had not. Well, he made it barely, she did not......

Ben
:smt005 :smt005, I decided to get much rest needed before I went out, anxiety excitement was definitely there but I tried not to think of it much, yeah right  :smt005 :smt005 :smt005 plus theres a consistent action how can I sleep, plus school of dolphins and a freakin seal trying to get on my yak 3x, no time to nap,

RICH:
Thanks for the pointers I really do like to learn bean lots of action and consistent, on the way back I tried to read the breaks and pause, I waited for the big break and rode behind and paddled faster.. it did do the trick I landed on the shore safe and well..
Live today for tomorrow's sake.

Hey Darius it was nice meetin you on sunday, WTG on your limit, nice fishes.  You did good for your first bean trip, just remeber watch the surf for a while and don't be afraid to call it a day if you're not comfortable with the conditions out there.  I have driven over 4 hrs. to my fishin spots and call it off because of rough surf.  Be safe, have fun and live to fish another day!!!!!!!!
