I don't know you or Steve, but i really feel for you man... Ive been there too! Id be devastated if it happened to me again with our newer dog. Nothing like the love a man has for his dog! Great bond.

Good luck and my prayers are with Steve!

Steve made it through surgery fine, but his surgery didn't happen until late so he has to spend the night at the vets office. I'll pick him up tomorrow and we should know within 2-3 days if they were able to get all of the cancer, or if he needs to do chemo.

Thanks for all the positive waves.  :smt006

Jay

Feelin for you buddy.  Old dogs do tend to get lots of fatty benign tumors.

Talked to the vet and was told that they removed about a 1" mass cell tumor from Steve's leg. He now has a 5" incision where they cut it out because they need to ensure that they get all the way around it. So, Steve has a gangsta stroll now.

As they explained it, a mass cell tumor usually goes one way or the other: they cut it out and that's the end of the story, or they cut it out and the lab tests come back that the cancer has spread into other parts of his body and we'll have to do chemo. Unfortunately for this type of tumor chemo isn't always effective.

I should get the lab results back Thursday or Friday.
Thanks for all the support.
