We built a shed, a hair shy of what you'd need a permit for.  The 4'x8' door is like the door the dungeons of Mordor...   :smt005

For the record, the upper part is a large kayak shelf, not a second story....  ;)  It's just a large, strong shelf that one could walk around on in a stooped fashion...
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee

OK Porky here are the measurements if the rolling yak rack.

Length (bow to stern) = 48 inch
Width 35 inches (its about 2-3 inches wider the the yak)
Hight (including the wheel height) 35 inch.

As you can see in the pics I added supports on all four sides so it stays square when rolling around. Make sure they are high enough to slide gear under the boat. Its nice to be able to get all the gear out of the way.

Geez you guys, now I'm almost embarassed to show my own yak storage.

Still, I said I would so here's my quiver stashed under the back deck (I don't normally store the boat on the cart, but this time of year things get a little rushed :smt003):

Sean, that's actually a nice setup.  I dream for such a boathouse someday.

before I sold my soul and got a house with a bat cave I had to get creative with my storage needs, especially when I rarely had less than 3 boats. There were times when the top of my old volvo sw was where they were "stored".
If you cant hang it on a wall (like the pictured orange Kaos in the lab) try taking the backs off of a couple of "directors" chairs and placing the ends of the boat in the chairs. this will help prevent hull damage if it sits too long. If you have to put it on the ground use pool noodles underneath it. This will also help prevent oil canning and other deformities. hope that is of some help.

looking back, when I kept boats on top of my car, I went paddling alot more.

heres a picture of the storage out at big river. classic!
