I have a 40" Sony Bravia and it has a great pic. We only sit about 10' from the TV in the small living room, so it is adequate.

remember these TV's look great when the signal is HD, but with regular standard non HDTV signals, you will see the pixels, so bigger is not always better.

I have seen a lot of larger screens that when watching standard broadcast it looks like crap.

Also, with all the HDTV's being produced, quality is not what it used to be, TV's used to last for decades, not they only last a few years if that before having problems. Don't spend $3000 on a TV that will be a piece of crap in 4 years.

And instead of buying the "TV" with tuner, we bought the monitor only (except it's 40"), it is essentially just like a flat screen computer monitor and has no tuner. With satellite or cable, the TV tuner has no purpose as the tuner is the reciever from the cable or satellite. It can save you as much as 30% on the cost of a TV.

My Sony Bravia HD 1080P is only 3 years old and already the input board is shot. We can watch TV broadcasts, but can no longer use it to watch DVD's, and the new board is as much as a new TV.

Be realistic with your money and don't get bigger for the sake of bigger.

Enjoy your new TV

Stoggie

60hz refresh rates will cause problems around flourescent lighting with magnetic ballasts because they also run at 60hz.  The two frequencies will be somewhat different and the result will be a perceived flickering of brightness that causes eyestrain, headaches and/or motion sickness.  I think CFL and T8 lamps don't have that problem, but if you have a T12 lamp in the adjacent kitchen it's something to consider.

I think you should get a 12" that way you will be less tempted to sit on your ass and watch TV giving you more time to sit on your ass and fish :smt005
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

To me the connections are as important, try to get one with a standard computer monitor connector so you can hook up lap-tops and PCs to it easilly.  Ours didn't have that and I was bummed at not being able to use it with my laptop except at SDTV resolution with an S-video connector.  Had to get a new laptop with HDMI out to bridge the gap.  ;)  Once that's set up....    :secret  tvtorrents.com
Not to mention reading fishing reports and seeing NCKA pictures on a huge HDTV.
