Hey there I LIKEY FISH! As Mooch would say, welcome to the madness! Stillwater south is located at the pebble beach clunhouse by carmel. Company is always welcome and the launch is super easy and the cove is almost always calm(hence the name). We should be launching around first light and be off the water by around noon or so. Hope to see ya out there! Here is some info from a previous post given by Seabreeze:

Enter at Pebble Beaches 17 mile gate.  There is a fee.  Currently $8.75.  Includes access to the rest rooms.  Follow the red line downhill towards the Lodge at Pebble Beach, spa, Coastal Access and Beach Club.  As you are driving past golfing grass you will see the small road to the left.  The sign is clear but not large.  You drive further towards the water than you might think taking another left turn towards the coastal access.

After you unload at the pier drive your vehicle back the way you came and park on the otherside of that first golfing lawn on your left.

Coastal access is east of the pier.  West of the pier is private pebble beach sand.

Here is Scuba Monterey's webpage describing access
http://www.scubamonterey.com/infoistillwater.html

Here is what was said during coastal commission review.

entry to DMF still does not
show Stillwater Cove access
point and brochure text
describing access as shown in
LCP was very small font
which is very hard to read;
brochure indicates two
parking areas for Stillwater
Cove and says to utilize the
parking areas guests must
make advanced reservations:
“advanced reservation
entitles the user to free
parking in one of the sixteen
reserved spaces and the
opportunity to enter the
Beach & Tennis Club parking
lot for equipment drop
off/pickup.” Based on LUP
map, and Spanish Bay and
Casa Palmero permits,
supposed to now have 6
reservable and 10 first-come
first-served public coastal
access parking spaces.
Change text to read
“Maintain public access to
Stillwater Cove pier and
beach south of pier though
Beach Club parking lot.
Provide and maintain
public access signage along
Palmero Way and Cypress
Drive to clearly indicate
that access to Stillwater
Cove is through the Beach
and Tennis Club parking
lots, and to identify public
parking locations,
including coastal public
access spaces provided at
the 17th tee and Tennis
Club parking lots;” revise
Figure 15 in LUP to show
pedestrian route to
Stillwater Cove, consistent
with Appendix B map;
revise map handout
distributed at entrance
gates to include Stillwater
Cove access point; number
Stillwater Cove access
point in a manner similar to
all other access points, and
provide information for use
in same size font used for
other access points.

Nice, wish I could go!   :smt006

Just wanted to remind you that there is an MLPA zone around the pinnacles you will need to avoid...

Whereabouts are the pinnacles out there. I have a GPS, but do not have the MLPA in it or know how to determine where they are out there, any easy visual bearings to go by? Thanks

if you look on the MLPA maps you can get a reasonable idea of where the no go zone is. Basically as long as you're north of the point, you should be OK.

I'm going to try and make Thursday  :smt006

You really need to plug the coordinates into a GPS to stay out of this SMR, IMO

I don't have gps but I fish there often.  If you go straight out of Stillwater Cove beyond all the shoreline kelp you will see another unattached batch of kelp about about 200 yards out and just to the north.  I believe this is the pinnacles.  I usually stay in the shoreline kelp and go north around Pescadero Point.  There is a sliver of the MLPA that comes in just north of the point.  If you go north to the pink house to fish you should be fine. There have been quite a few large lings caught in this area this season.  Search around the kelp, I usually come across schools of gophers and blues.  Wish I could join you.

Nope, not at all.  And not knowing wont get you out of a ticket either  :smt009  I personally have not been talked to by DFG there myself, but have heard they regularly have someone watch the closed area with binoculars from shore.
