the wind was howling on saturday, so i did not go fishing, but i still wanted to get wet.  my wife and i headed to the marina, to get some pics of myself practicing kayak self rescue.  the water was warm so i had several cocktails to reproduce the dexterity reducing effects of cold ocean water! :smt003

That's awesome Chris!!!!
Those photos are going to substantiate my claims to someone I know who wants to go out in the ocean with little experience.
I said not until we go to a lake and practice a lot of dumping and getting back on.
He thought I was kidding.
Thanks for the back-up.
One question. How much water got in hull of the kayak?

i practice re-entry every spring,  it is easy when it is warm and i am mentally prepared.  the one time i flipped in the ocean, many years ago, it was much more difficult.
about a gallon, i had the boat upside down many times, and i submerged the front hatch while sitting on the bow.
i have 2 float bags in my trident.

I liked the fact that you had a few beverages in the name of science.
Way to take one for the team.

This is something i (we need to practice) sans beverage

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

Hey Chris, just a quick question. Were you trying numerous ways of how to get
back on the kayak? That is what it looks like on some of the pictures.

hey jedmo, 8 times from port, 2 from starboard.  and i tried a rope with a foothold on the bottom, tied to the boat-no real benefit.
sitting sidesaddle, on the bow, and standing up.

My favorite shot has to be the full speed ahead, sudden stop head dive foward.  :smt004
