Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

well, this is somewhat theoretical, but it can't roll unless it has water or something else on which to exert force.

so if you hold it up with the grippers, hanging by only the lip, it can only exert force on the grippers, resulting in pretty limited movement.

ergo, what we want is grippers attached to a pole by a ball bearing swivel.

then you can grip that 42"er, and hang him high and he can't roll.

actually I have been pulling my underlings right out of the water with the grippers and waiting for them to do something. They usually just hang there and wait for me to unhook them.

SET SCREW
Unlike any other brand tool, Lipper™ Tools feature a set screw. When landing a fish, loosen the set screw (open position) which will allow the landing jaws to extend outward and turn 360 degrees. If your fish is “green” it can spin and thrash and the landing jaws can turn freely with out twisting you hand/wrist. When your fish has calmed, the set screw will naturally go back to its normal resting position, if not, a simple twist of your wrist to the right or left will accomplish same. Fish can be weighed when the set screw is in the open position.

I've lipped buts before.  Got a cut thumb a bit, but I got the fish without a net or a gaff.

Sometimes you just have to be a man.

(lings are a different story....)

Here ya go! This is my buddy Nate, but I do it on smaller ones like this also. I don't usually bring a net to the jetty, and sometimes the lip gripper is out of reach - so you just gotta lip 'em!

I've never lipped a ling... but I grab them under the gill plate all the time... they're actually quite easy to control in this way.

You just need to not put your hand too far up there on a big fish or it get's sharp.
