The only things I have ready to go are my reels.  I'm bringing the Penn 975CS, the 6500 Abu, and the pPenn 400 Slammer spin reel.  Loaded with 25, 18, and 12 respectively all new line.

Besides that I ahve to sort and pack everything tonight.

I am going minimalist.  last trip they lost my luggaage and I did 2 weeks up there with one pair of boxer shorts.

No I actually went to Wal mart and bought a 3-pack.  One pair of shorts though and lucky to snag a few t shirts from the OK Swag Bag.  I will bring enough clothes.  It will be like luxury just to have a pair of Levis.

Fishing equipment wise, I'll wait till I get there and buy what's appropriate. Only briningnsome Buzz Bombs and a few kastmasters, and my reels. Howard will let me borrow appropriate rods while I'm there, and I bought one new Seeker AK CSA 896-8 3/4' that I had shipped to Howard's House  for the 975.

Theer is a lot fto fish for  right in Ketchikan.  Tons of rockfish of course, including some big ones.  King Salmon (I hope) down by the creek south of town.  Lings and halibut at varius sopots not too far away.

Alan Sansano will join us that next weekend, and we'll probably go on a one or two day overnight mothership trip on Howard's PB with the yaks on back.

I've actually been so busy getting work wraped up and with family stuff, that I've not had time to ruminate and get excited yet.  Maybe tonight.

I leave at 3pm tomorrow arrive at Ketchikan around 8pm AK time.

Well, I guess I am a little bit excited.  11 days of constant fishing?

I'm not brinning a computer , but probably can use Howards for the occasional post.

I will take tons of pictures and have stories to tell upon my return, I'm sure.

Have safe and be fun, keep the home fires burning!

Allen OUT.

Have a blast Allen! Maybe you can catch a halibut as big as your Sur one? :smt044

If you haven't been, check out Ray Troll's shop in the old red light district on the piers in Ketchikan. They've got all the classic Troll shirts (if you like his artwork). Troll is one of my artistic idols.

I will take a pic of  a giant yellow eye.

One goal is to upgrade my PB (personal best) halibut. should be doable.

Also upgrade my RF and KS PB's haha.

Troll is one of my favs as well.  I shared my psychic "spawn till you die" experience with him and his wife.  Ray and I are going out for coffee whrn I get up there.  Yes, I am buying.

Yeah. The one I catch!!!

I'll see you up there next weekend.  I guess I need to start thinking about what I'm going to bring up there.  I was thinking of going minimalist as well.  Last year I brought 2 50# bags and added a cooler full of fish on the way back.

Allen I will talk to you soon.  I claim minimalist going up, but may be willing to pay some extra charges on the return trip for 50# smoker material  haha

Going through my stuff right now 2X paddling clothes tops and bottoms, pfd, paddle, booties new pliers an dikes.  filet knife. Good swivels and aforementioned lures, that's about it.

Oh yeah, clothes and dop kit, camera, ipod, phone and chargers.

Sand Crab Classic T shirt for Howard and one for Ray Troll.

yeah, I guess I am getting kind of excited.

Beat this one, Allen's!!

Howard says my mug's all over his brochures, and on the Ketchikan Area Visitor's Guide.  Please find a way to surpass it - Howard and Ketchikan need the business.

Have a blast!!
