Joel you still up for this trip?

Absolutely! I planned it perfectly cause I wanted to get out of Half Moon Bay's annual Pumpkin Festival....the town will be swamped by pumpkin fanatics :smt011

Allen - I'll stick around for a Sunday "slow troll" as well.

Cool.  I will plan on making it up there when Ron's opens to get some bait.  They open at 7, right?  Let me know how many pieces you need to Mooch off me.

Bummer bra-its Pumpkinfest here in Ukiah that weekend!  But its mellow, awesome old school parade around noon, downtown gets blocked off at night, the wineries show up and its a great walk around downtown and get tipsy on the post harvest festivities.

What time does Ron's close on Sat.?

I plan to leave early Sat. morning. As far as the bite is concerned - I don't really care if it's slow - I just need to get out of the HMB pumpkin festival  :smt011

Allen - I'll buy as much bait as I can - to share. And I did get confirmation from Sean - the bait shop open's at 8AM.

Hey fellas - hate to bail on this trip - but I'll be heading to Monterey instead. There's still a lot spots at Monterey that I'd like to fish off - now that I got invitations from Alex (who grew-up at Seaside), and other locals like Pat and Randy....I'd like to take full advantage (AKA "mooch") of their local knowledge.

Anyway, it seems like Sean's latest report on Mendo was not productive at all - I'll plan another overnight trip later on - when Sean's reports get better.

Anyway, I apologize for any inconvenience that I may have caused - hope to hook with you guys soon! Company welcome at Monterey! Channel 69.

Not that you are waiting for me or anything :jocolor: I really want to get up there with someone who knows their way around and when Mr. Striper is in a bait bustin' mood for mayhem. I am camping at an intensive sea kayaking symposium this Fri-Sun on Bodega Bay and ocean, then on to Eagle Lake to try for some fat Rainbows the next Fri-Sun. I fished a float tube last year and spent a lot of time crashing through those thick cattails (Ugh!)--this year it will be a kayak and it should be much better. Besides I am still 'pimping my ride'--a shiny new orange Prowler 15. :smt003

Marmot,

You lucky dog.  We used to hit Eagle Lake every year in the Summer, staying a big group campsite (Merrill).  It was a huge group.  We'd primarily just bait fish, using the double cast method (crawler and a bobber).  Funny thing about that place is the bite is super early, then it dies.  Pretty much all of the boats are headed out in the dark.

A few times, my dad would go in the fall to duck hunt, but this was all the way to the north end, which is completely different than the south end.  I think it was in Nov or even Dec.  He'd hunt in the am the switch to trolling rebels along the tules for fish.

You should get into some nice sized trout up there.

Is anyone still going to Lake Mendo this weekend?  I'm going to be heading that way Friday morning and plan to stay through Sunday.

I do have one question about the camping.  I looked on reserve America for the campsite posted and it looks like all the sites are reserved but a few that don't allow reservations.  Are these first come first serve?
