I know a lot of you are planning the weekend of the MBK tournament and trying to figure out how to make it work with your families.

If you need something for the wife and kids to do while you attempt to dethrone E2G, consider having them check out the Monterey Bay Aquarium.  I have two reusable guest passes that i'm happy to loan out.  I think adult tickets are like $25 now.  Just holler at me.

The owners of the aquarium are the chief providers of funds to stop our fishing on the coast. The Packard foundation funds the enviros who want to get the most possible closures within the MLPA process. I wouldnt step foot in the fish prison.

yeah, i feel ya, i really really really dislike packard's position on fishing.  Everytime I fish monterey or carmel area, i swing by MBAQ on my way home.  I grab two random people from out of the public entrance and usher them through the member entrance, at no charge.  I do this whether or not i'm inclined to visit the aquarium myself.  Over the course of the season, i figure i've "helped out" couples totaling several hundred dollars worth of gate fare. :smt003

I usually try and select a younger couple.  I remember being young and broke, and $25 per head ain't chicken feed.  I think it was last October when me and Sin Coast fished San Carlos, I "helped out" a young newlywed couple from Texas.  They were so grateful, thanking me all over the place.  So there is sometimes the added benefit of interstate diplomacy.

No offense hopefully. Its just to listen to the Packards think that they own the ocean is a bit much. See you at MBK.

Damn!  Where were you last Friday!? :smt044

I had never been there (because of ravensblack's previously stated reasons), but my girlfriend wanted to go for her birthday, plus friends offered to drive, so...

Oh, and its $30 now...

F that place. They have been responsible for the deaths of a solid number of great whites over the past few years. They actually pay fishermen who bring a GW to them...

I realize they want to protect the oceans, but recreational kayak fishermen are hardly the problem, and the MLPA, their pet project, is aimed directly at us.
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

damn really?!  All the more reason to utilize my guest passes . . . sorry, i'd have hooked you up for sure.

ironic and funny how much we can simultaneously enjoy and despise the place.  I promise to try and up my quota of young couples fare assistance...
