no leaks so far. definitely a sweaty deal.  :smt044

michael the guy who sold the boat to me is a sail crazed maniac.  he told me that on a level of 1-10, he enjoyed it as an 8 for sailing, whereas his adventure islands were 10.

he was very nice and gave my wife and i a good overview of how to sail it if we were so inclined.

michael -

his only complaint were about the amas.  he said that they were cheap since they "made in china" - to which i replied that my wife was too.  so we all laughed.  OK just kidding about that last part.

one of the amas has a broken cap, so he filled the whole thing with packing peanuts.  he said that it works and that the sport has only flipped once since the amas have been installed - and that was in approx 45mph winds with a newb commanding. I may try to fix the cap by gluing it in place.  I would not use them in normal conditions while we are paddling/peddling it, only if we sailed it - the reason is that the amas are right in your paddle stroke so you're quite crippled.

i know about the seats - was just in a big hurry that day and wanted to take it for a quick spin to see how it handled in the breeze and to ensure everything was working well.  i am sure i would be a bit faster if i wasnt reclined.  I would say it is either an 05 or 06. I don't know that much about the hobie history so I can't be sure.  I know that it does not have a twist and stow rudder so it cant be too new. (OOPS, guess sport doesnt have twist n stow!)
