Heard that some new bait balls were running along the beaches last night (Bocci finally found and boated a bunch of live sardines along New Brighton yesterday eve), so I decided to try my luck along the kelp beds between Capitola and New Brighton beach this AM.

Launched about 9:00 and focused mainly on the shallow water bite. Several boats and yaks already in the area when I launched.

Hooked up with a decent 26" flattie about an hour into it. Found him along the edge of the kelp beds about 15' deep. Bait was a blue and silver Megabait minnow.

Only one for the day, but I'm not complaining!

W/ EZ's first two reports both ending w/ keeper halis and an avatar w/ 3.. something tells me there's more than balls involved. :smt002
