Hey everyone,I was happy to be in the company  of so many beautiful people.Al Im glad your ok.I had a killer time, way too much fun on Friday.Sat morn came around Iwoke up @ 4 and couldnt wait to paddle out, but I didnt want to be the first one to start the engine so I waited for someone else, I was second.Abman and I paddled towards bouy on the north.I stoped to fish within 5 I was on to a black  then a small ling.A group went by me so I figured Id slowly track that ways, the current was taking me too far north for my comfort, but I kept fishing.I looked down to change lures when a big set made my belly turn,I started blowing chunks.Fished a bit more but I was chuncking on every wave.I gave up and headed in before something bad happened.Next time IM taking pills. It was a blast thanks to all.

I do have a couple of corrections for Don's storyline, and maybe the video will make it all clear.     Northern Boy may have called a mayday, but I did too (or maybe it was just me?  was I copying his accent, again?   ) - either way, it was the real deal.

Sorry about that Bro,  Kudo's should be put where they belong...

I thought I detected a Brit accent on that " Mayday "....  and it was a Good Call...

Danglin, that's an AWESOME recount for me!  Boy, I had no idea so many people were involved in my rescue!  It's truly very touching to hear this  :smt010, and I'm just so glad that NCKA was there for me in my time of need!

So, my total loss for Sunday was:

Another Trevala Med Light w/ Daiawa Luna (ouch)
Promar Rubber Net
Broken Lip Gripper (tried to knock out some fish with it)
ICOM M34
Fishing License

I basically lost all gear except the tackle and boat this weekend  :smt012  But not going to let it deter me!  I can replace the fishing license and have a VHF on its way to my door already.  Just need to get another jigging rod and a net and I'm back in business!  :fish

Thanks to all of you, for your kind comments, bravery, and concerns!   :hello: Really, I will look back on this as a positive, not a negative.  My time swimming in the water was only a couple hours, of this incredible weekend.  One that I will remember for years to come!!!  :smt003

I'm sorry I haven't gotten to all the replies, but I have read every comment probably 2-3 times by now.  I wanna see even more pictures posted and hear more stories that people had this weekend!

All of you guys rock!!!

Howdy all,

great posts on the trip and of Al's adventures in the water. Have been in the police/rescue business for 21 years and have been involved in and handled literally hundreds of these types of incidents.  Have seen the tragic aftermath of a bad outcome as well as the good ones.

All involved performed like polished professionals. No panic, just a common sense,  poised, and organized response to an event that was serious and could have gone really bad in a flash. Outstanding work on the communications, notification, rallying of help, etc. Great  job to all, Danglin/Eric/Ariel special Kudos to you.

Al, you were poised and calm in the water and I can't say the word "victim" to describe your predicament. Just wasn't the case. Loved all the time on and off the water with you all. Many, many colorful, passionate, and genuine characters in attendance. Look forward to hanging with you all again at the next event.

Eric, brother you took care of all of us by setting this up. Thanks a million for being  a great guide, friend and fellow kayak fishing nut bag.

I did not mayday, I merely suggested the hoisting of a paddle and then started paddling as fast as I could once I saw it.
I decided I should not make the mayday call because of my accent because, well, accents can be a problem in such cases......................
