My first time out in the yak this season and man did that feel great!  Met up with JK at Leffingwell in Cambria this morning for a short round of rock fishing.  A bit of a bump and a fast drift this morning, but managed to catch a 27" ling, a 22" underling, and 5 blues.  The underling and 3 of the blues went back to grow up some more.  The keepers will make for a couple of great meals.   :smt004

The pics really made the conditions look like glass, but there was a swell of around 7' at 8 seconds and we had to tie off to the kelp to stay on the rocks or take our chances trolling.  It was still a ton of fun and I can't wait to do it again real soon.

Hi Mike,
I like my Eagle Cuda 250 SMap.  It served me well last season, got wet plenty of times, I even got dumped by shore breaks and it always worked well.  I had no sonar for some reason yesterday, so was fishing blind aside from fishing the kelp.  I played with it when I got home, the transducer mount inside the hull was still solid, and think I had a little corrosion in the plug connectors, so cleaned them out with fresh water, WD-40, then gave them a generous coat of di-electric grease.  I'll need to put it back in the water to see if it's working again.  I like having the sonar and GPS in one compact rugged unit.  The sonar wasn't working, but the GPS came in handy after the fog started coming in and we had drifted quite a ways North of our lauch when it came time to head back in.

I have a 250 map also.  It goes schizo on me all the time.  Gotta tune up that bad boy this weekend.  Nice OTW shots
