Launched from Capitola Beach this morning with bigwavedave and headed out towards Pleasure Point, the water was like a lake for most of the morning with the wind picking up around 1000. Worked the edge of the kelp for this 32" keeper, I had more bites drifting along the kelp but no more hook-ups.

Nice job on the fish Jay! Were you fishing bait or lures? I've had almost no luck with lures myself for halibut but some people seem to do okay with them.

You got yourself some good eats and that's all that matters.

Hey Otter, Thanks for the post. I was using lures, seems I do better with lures than I do with bait.

Let's see lingcod from stillwater opening day and now a fat hali. Are you sure you are not washing your hands with squid, what's the secret? You definitely have the touch or the scent  maybe. By the way good job and thanks again for the really cool fish clip.

If any of you are reading this and thinking about coming to santa cruz don't bother the fishing and surfing here sucks. Go directly to plan B.
