Hey everyone,
Do you know of anyone you could recommend to me in the south bay, east bay, or santa cruz area that does really nice work on replacing broken line guides? I have a new Seeker rod that has the second guide down broken and would like to get a quality repair done soon. I called Seeker to see if they would cover it with their warranty and I could send it to southern californial, but too much time and money for that.
Thanks Mike

Mike, Steve Volkers (510-881-1775) at the Rod Rack in Hayward may be able to help you out. His shop specializes in long range and fly fishing. His shop is located at 1025 B Street. The shop is closed on Fridays, Sundays, and Mondays.

If you determine that he can help you out, I'd be willing to take your rod to him on Saturday. I'm overdue for a visit to his shop, plus I can stop by the shop either on the way to/from Livermore.

Rich:

Sadly, Ernie's closed up shop in February,  he and his wife finally retired from the fishing business in order to go fishing.

Allen,

Good for them!!

I was teasing Ernie and his wife the last time I saw them about never taking any time off. He gave me a wry smile and said "soon". Now I know what he meant.

They are a really nice couple and we will miss them and his very cool shop.. Glad I bought all my guides and thread from him for the blanks I have!!

Hitting the water Sunday?? We are!!!!!

Hi Yakers:

I was quoted $10.0 per wrap not including Rings. Most Wippers don't
have the time to deal with off the shelf rod fixes. The rod Whippers
need to built a full custom to make their Money.
I would do it yourself to save money. :smt002

So, 20-30$ depending if there is an underwarp?  Sounds way worth it to me......

and, Rich, I have Childcare duty this weekend, but might sneak out on the Velocity with my son just for the taco factor.

at 20-30 it may be cheaper to send it to get done under warranty.  That way you don't risk voiding the warranty.
