The Half Moon Bay Kayak Company in conjunction with Cobra Kayaks has graciously offered to host and sponsor:

NCKA's 4th Annual HMB Kayak Fishing Derby
Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009
Princeton Harbor, Half Moon Bay
Grand Prize: Cobra Pro-Fisherman



Biggest Fish wins the Grand Prize Kayak
(Rockfish, Lingcod, Striped Bass, Halibut, or WSB only)

Biggest Sardine wins a bonus prize!!!

$20 Entry Fee (please bring exact change)

5AM        Onsite Registration/Waiver sign-up opens
7AM        Derby Start Time (shotgun start)
12:30AM  Weigh-in Deadline followed by BBQ/Potluck


* Fish will be measured by length.  For tie-breakers, heaviest fish wins.

We selected the later date for the best chances for optimum conditions.  Our last HMB derby in 2007 had over 75 contestants.  We can easily break the 100 participant mark this year.

The HMB derby is known for it's huge turnout, easy parking and launch, great food, great fun, and the biggest lingcod ever caught in our derbies (29 pounder caught by Brian "fantini4fish").




For our safety, HMB Kayak Co. will have a support boat and the Harbormaster will provide jetski patrols.  All participants will be required to have a VHF radio tuned to Ch. 69.

It's late enough in the season and from SFO to HMB is only about 30 minutes. Makes the "shooting" that much easier. Good amount of time to be building WAF too. Little Kylah's doing great and is outgrowing clothes still in her age bracket. I wonder where she gets that from....  :roll:
