Just got back from Texas.  Went fishing with my relatives for Red fish and had a great time fishing while I was there.  Just want to share my first experience catching Red fish...

Head out early in the morning

Hooked my very first Red fish

Love the way it fights

Ready to land my first one of the day

My younger brother was ready with the net

It's in the net

Here is my first Red

Sonny!  This is awesome.  Fantastic stuff, Man - hanging with your brothers in Texas on the Red Fish and soon to be hanging with NCKA brothers at one of your favorite (THE favorite probably) spots on the Pacific Coast...  You're living the life right now, Brother.  Well done.  Nice one.   :smt001

Thanks Eric, I can't wait for our get together in Shelter Cove  :smt006

Just trying to make the most while I'm between jobs  :smt003  We also caught other species like Sheephead, Speckle Trout, Spanish Mackerel, Flounder...  Next time I'll try to catch them from a kayak!

That's cool you went out of state.  I always figured reds weren't good eating cause you always see them thrown back on tv.

That's a misconception!  IMHO Red fish is even better eating than Striper or Sheephead.  It has firm texture and a sweety taste.

Hey Sonny WTG, nice variety great to see something different.

Blackened Redfish, got so popular that they had to put some extra regs in place to protect them,

Very nice, Sonny!

Love seeing pics of "foreign" fish.

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

You're right, the limit for Bull Red is 1 and they're using the tag system like our Sturgeon tag.

As for different species, we also caught a Cobia and Jack fish from a jetty in Galveston last week.

Thank you for your kind word calbear  :smt006

While I was fishing on the jetty, I took a picture of a cargo ship and noticed a lone kayaker on the far right.  I walked over and say "Hi" and took a closeup picture.

Next time when I return to this place, I'll be on a kayak  :smt001
