Do you have a drill chuck for you lathe ewb?  That would work perfect for drilling the center hole straight.  I wish i had one for mine.  It will be cool to see what you come up with.  There was an episode of Spear Gun Hunter on the outdoors channel where a guy was using one he made.  He was deadly with that thing!

I do (Jacobs Chuck). Def worth the money (see the link below). The issue is the sling is about 8 inch and my normal bits are two short and my long bits are to long....I think I have a solution that will actually look pretty cool. I am trying to get a few made for GSC III.

Andy, how long was the band you used. Was it to long? You seemed to be fully stretched out? And what did you use for the spear holder at the but end. Did you say wire nut?

If you have a long drill bit and a chuck you can chuck up your blank and just run the drill through by hand I have a couple of long bits for doing this, they are self centering.

Eric, I used around sixteen inches of band and it may be too long. Although the more I shoot the more comfortable it seems, and yes I did use A wirenut at the end. A big blue one... There is probably something better to use but thats all I had available in my shop....
