Monday I had a job  put off so I went and got  doz ghost and 6 pile worms.I put in under the 37 brigde and the tide was just starting to outgo,I trolled red and white krystal minow about an hour upstream, nothing.Decided topaddle downstream towards the mouth.I was using a shrimp worm combo for an hour and a half. The  tide was ripping the wind pretty strong and I was thinking about G S 3 and ling cod when I saw the bump, bump, bump and I swung ,my pole bent line peeled andIm reeling down ,I felt he was  big then he jumped twice,Oh Baby I yelled out.I think he heard me cause he charged me to my left ,I released but he jumped and got tagled on anchor andworse  im going downstream lines upstream and Dino isunder me.Ialmost got dumped when I sit on pole and try topaddle and reel upstream and he goes sideways as Ihave anchor line, float andfish line trying to untangle, close.A minute later whe re free and  having a nice fight.I finally land him in the mudd ,Im having ahard time getting him in for a measure ,we wrestle and finally I see he is about10 inches to big,and he has snare marks. He goes back in but not before he brakes my paddle,so I was down the creek with halve a paddle ,what a battle.

Gabe, what a battle. Are you over the adrenaline rush yet. Those photos kind of show the total situation.Almost out of control with a huge fish. The mouth of the river gives up some nice fish. All by yourself. Damn dude that must have been amazing!

WTG on the sturgeon ElDorado. Sorry about your broken paddle dude. I
am sure it is all worth it from battling the fish. Thanks for the report.
Good reminder to bring heavy duty zip ties or an extra paddle when
fishing alone.

Cool Pics, nice fish, and it look like quite a day.

Have you fished that area much?  I used to drive over that bridge daily on my way to work.  I have always wanted to launch there. Never seeing a kayak down there,  I thought it may be relatively uncharted waters for the yak fisherman.  I guess not.

Damn! How does a kayak paddle like a canoe?  Not to good I imagine.
