This movie is about honor.  Domenic told me of a show called "The One", where they have a pre-determined, hard to achieve hunting or fishing goal, and they leave with nothing if they don't fulfill it.  I like the concept, and it's cool to hear about it after we'd already laid out just that type of plan.  Fulfilling it was cool too, but the real pride factor comes from the success of the hookup, the emotions of the participants, and the honorable nature of our interaction as a group.  I can't make this stuff up.    :smt004

Great stuff! Eric, may I ask why you didn't wear gloves? Was the water really that warm? Makes me feel like a wuz.

I gave up gloves several years ago because I just kept destroying them and I realized I liked a pair once it was so trashed that I had enough bare skin hanging out to actually be able to feel things efficeintly.  The past two dives my hands have gotten very cold, and I think my overall temp suffered from lack of gloves too.  I did mean to bring an old beater pair the other day, but I also admit that I like being a tough guy!   :smt002

When I finally coughed up the $45 for a good pair of gloves, I could tell the difference right away; I could stay in the water longer without getting too cold. But yes, you do lose nimbleness, er, uh, nimbility?

Also, unless the gloves have good gripping traction, they are useless with a polespear.

Eric,

Just returned home from work, poured a cold IPA, sat down and dialed in the NCKA site hoping to find what I did find. Like something precious you don't want to lose or to have go away, can't get myself to watch the movie yet. Kim is coming over in a one hour. Can hardly contain self to wait. But, wait I shall and it will be worth it so I can share something intangibly meaningful with her that transpired that day.

Will check in with you guys when the viewing is over. Imagine I'll watch it several times to fully absorb the adventure that was burned into the memory of digital film on a perfect day on the Lost Coast.

Domenic and Eric,

Can't say enough about how you spoke the gospel in that great video tribute to our trip.  My humble hat is off to you for helping me achieve something that has meant a bunch to me. The slow motion sequence of swimming up to you with the giant was the pinnacle shot and worth the price of admission, all by itself!  Captured each pivotal moment perfectly. I am completely honored to have been part of this adventure. Can't wait for the next one, guys.

I like that restraint, Shannon - way to keep the ADD and speed in check until your lady got home.   :smt002  I'm glad you guys liked the flick.  I'm not super keen on adding in dialogue unless it's very pertinent and somewhat restrained - we just barely qualified for those descriptors!  Domenic came by earlier and saw one of the scenes as I was making the movie.  "I met this F*#^er on NCKA...  B#&ch!!!"  He says, "you've gotta put that in there!" and I was reluctant.  Well, it IS reality TV of a sort...   :smt003

Good Times, Guys.  Thanks again for teaming up with me.   :smt001

Laughed my A-- off when I  saw that part. Too Cool. GMS III or bust! Headed to tackle shop on Monday to get my magical fishing lures ready  for rockfish galore in the cove.  Fishing tales, smelling of fish, swill and campfire smoke. Who on earth wouldn't enjoy that.
