Got out on the water at 0700 and made my way around the point with a couple other NCKA'ers. Fished around for a couple of hours, tons of bites but no hook-ups. The wind started to pick up around 1000, so I decided to paddle in closer to the launch fished around for a bit with no luck. At about 1100 the rain started coming down so I decided to head in for the day, along the way I stopped and fished several holes in the kelp to see if I could hook up with something/anything. 500 yards from stinky rock I was working a 6" Hammerhead Swimbait in 60ft of water, then whammmooo... hooked into a 29 3/4inch Ling.  Although I didn't catch any other fish I had a great time meeting some new people and catching my first Ling of the season.

Congrats Jay!!! nice fish!  I took my wife out there for her maiden voyage on a new yak (It her birthday today). She did good and was excited by the fun of just being on the water. She was able to fish a little but had her hands full most of the time learning how to get around in and on her new yak. I didn't get as much time to fish as I had hoped. I ended up doing more coaching than fishing. I did catch 1 ling. It was not legal size so after a birthday pics he went back to grow till next season. It was great to meet more members and see a few I have already met. I also talked with a couple guys who were not and didn't want to be members  :smt011. They said that for years not many kayakers fished that area. Now they "lots" of them who say they learned about still water cove from being a member of our group  :smt003. I told him to login and check us out. He would be able to learn a few things too and maybe teach a few things while he was at it. Maybe they will figure out that they can't beat us so they might as well join us and share in the fun. All in all it was a fun day. I will try to make it out again tomorrow. The wife has to work so I can fish  :smt044
