I paddled nothing else for years, then traded for a Tarpon 160i.  The scuppers are a fun boat to paddle and fast.  When I got the Tarpon, I was kinda disappointed.  The Tarpon doesn't feel as sleek in the water and definitely doesn't steer as well without a rudder.  However, even though I was used to the tippyness of the scupper, I like the stability of the Tarpon better.  The tarpon is a lot easier to dive off of, and to fish from - but it's kind of a tank.

Hmm......

I went in the opposite direction.  I sold my T160 and went with the scupper pro.

I like the responsiveness of the scupper, and to me, it feels more stable (lower center of gravity) and is either as fast, and possibly faster than the Tarpon.

I totally agree its a wet ride and for small to medium sized paddlers.

I've seen pro/con threads comparing the two, but IMO, both are great boats.  Its' a matter of personal preference (and paddler size).

The main thing I like about my scupper pro Tw is that after sitting in it and fishing for 6 hours on my wet ass is the icthiness that starts when I get off the boat and dry off. Lets say about 30 min after drying off I just get a wire brush and go for it. :smt044 Joke. Its a joke OK?

Just hope you don't use the same one to clean your Grill :smt013
It's not he Scupper's fault you pee in your FJ :smt005
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

Thanks for the useful advice everyone. I really liked the scupper pro after going to four different demo days and rental tryouts. Unfortunately my 36" waist made my hip bones rub on the seat well and my back couldn't tolerate an ocean kayak brand seat. Really liked the way this boat paddled, would be good as a loaner buddy boat. I ended up going with a tarpon 160i after ganoderma showed me how to load it onto my truck solo. This boat has the only seat with lumbar support and still has a sleek seakayak feel to the hull. No need for the wire brush with this model.
