Awesome job on a great fish Ravensblack! You seem to have really put your time in on the bay this year. Those shiners only seem expensive when you don't catch anything with them right.

Congrat on your nice catch Craig.  I saw that you're still using a "real" hammer to bonk the Hali (ouch!) from the 1st picture.  Come-on give the fish a break and use the "wood shampoo"  :smt003

wtg craig.....im off to the getto bait receiver right now, cause ive got the next 2 mornings off. at $1.75/shiner from Mikes, these late night incursions into the kill zone seem almost sane/worthwhile.

Way to go Craig! We-me, Adam and Chad- hit the rod n gun club, we tried to get you guys on the VHF, guess its a bit far. We worked the area between the pier and R. Bridge for nada. I had a good hit, thats it, we split when the wind got bad.

Craig, Looks like a few nice meals there. Sounds like you had a chance at a hat trick! The fish gods have certainly been shining on you this year.  :smt002 the wind come up there like clockwork 12:30-1pm every day, even on those "calm" dayz. I don't know if they have shiners in Petaluma at Sport and Dive, but they might be worth a try. Fraizer=ripoff...

Nice one Craig, Is that the same hammer we used on your sturgie....that was a riot when the head flew off in the air and came down in my kayak. From what I have heard you won't be kayak fishing (except Mexico) for a few weeks. Don't worry the fish won't miss you...hehe.  Congratulations on your first kayak halibut.

When I decided to start in the AOTY this year I had only fished on a kayak in the ocean. I also fished with a guy who thought if you dont catch there is something wrong. I was at the mercy of others to fish in thier PB's. One guy told me when I told him of some hardcore guys on this site who fish alot that they don't have lives. I replied are you kidding me! These guys are living the dream. WE are independent. WE can go wherever we want for the most part and can fish where no pb can go. (cool as hell). I dont fish with him anymore. I have found freinds here who love this sport and be able to think outside the box. I am blessed by all who have been here before me. I have caught halibut in a boat many times. Chuck E, your description of what to do with a halibut on a kayak played back through my head and it turned out great. Allen you are sick and have given me the disease.
