Trooched around Berkeley pier with frozen anchovies and didn't even get a scratch. Water was petty flat, wind was pretty light.  No one on the pier got bit either.   :smt010  On the other hand, we discovered Jodie's on Masonic and Solano Ave., which has the best fried chicken and beef brisket philly cheese-steak sandwich in the world.  (be prepared to wait 30 minutes for the chicken).

I was thinking of hitting it up some time next week, but have never been in the yak on the ocean, and probably should go with someone that is familiar.  I have fished the area a lot in boats, and I feel comfortable enough to get out there early, and off the water before the winds kick up.

Thanks for the report and nice try. Frozen chovies usually do pretty good on the halibut. Sounds like at least you found some good eats!

Way to give it a go at Berkeley gabekap. Any other yakers out there today? I
can't wait for the live chovies to come. It will be tons of fun fishing that area.

Frozen if you have nothing else. Live is the money for halibut. Just ask Duane. He's caught 5 already.
