Hobie Dave and I met up at ARW and launched at 7:30.  I picked up some live shiners at Mike's bait in Oakland on the way in.  Unfortunately, I forgot to charge the battery on my live well so the bait didn't live too long.  It was flat, calm and hot; a beautiful day.  The fishing was very slow.  There were several PBs in the area but we didn't see anybody catch anything.  Dave turned out to be the angler of the day!  He got one Halibut and a couple of fun hookups with rays. As you can see from the pictures, Dave's Yak is pimped for the sunshine! The pictures are cell phone pics, so they aren't the best.  No fish for me, but still a great day on the Bay.

Looks like a nice day out there. Too bad the fish wasn't cooperated.  Thanks for the report and pictures Martin.

Nice Hookup Martin:
Pam & I just finished Dinner, I'm here to tell you I'll never go back to skunk again. Four skinless fillets. a short marinade in 'Lawry's Herb & Garlic' with fresh grated ginger, grilled on the BBQ. We're talking good eats here. Got to thank you Martin for checking that my hooks are sharp, sorry about what you lost to the cause. The first 'mud marlin' was about 20# That second one was close to fifty. You saw and held my outfit, so you know why that took so long to C&R. Good time, good buddy. good home brew. Still missed having Jed there to share in the fun. dave..

Good job Hobie Dave! Congrats on the hali.

Martin next time you forget to charge your battery, just cycle the water with your bilge pump. get some fresh water in there every 20mins or so.

I was thinkin' the same thing! My arms would be a lot less fried if I'd had that the other day, but it wouldn't take too much of a breeze to turn that into a real PITA real fast - hope there's some kinda "quick release" in case of a sudden gust!

...then you use the umbrella as a sail and get a free ride back to the ramp.  Several years ago I fished the Rockwall with a local old-timer on a Hobie Outback who used a golf umbrella to get back to ramp.  He held the umbrella in one hand and steered with the other.  I was paddling an P15 and I could barely keep up with him.

Congrats Hobie Dave.

Martin, your cell phone pics don't look bad at all.  Thanks for taking'em.
